Must read starter book for biomechanical riding
Very clear, very simple book on the mechanics of straightening a horse. The language used is very simple and didactic, as german horsey authors are wont to use (in direct contradiction to french authors, always dryly and accurately technical - not sure why is that?) and it is easy to understand by anyone, whether they know anatomy or not.Unfortunately this is its biggest failing, as the authors must rely on vague phrases and old fashioned mumbo-jumbo (upward swinging back??) to get some ideas across. No mention is made of the lateroflexion and rotation of the spine in movement, or how a horse shoulder functions, there is not even a single basic anatomy chart, nor does it delve deep enough into the principle of the question..HOWEVER, it puts across certain ideas and methods in an extremely enlightening way, it's very easy to implement, and even if you have already a fair notion of biomechanics, I still recommend it because like me you may have missed the obvious in looking for the more arcane. If you have no idea about biomechanics and feel intimidated, this is a really excellent starter book, which even beginners would benefit from.Be sure to complement your knowledge further by, for example, visiting the scienceofmotion website, which deals in the same in a more technical, scientifically correct manner (but can be overwhelmingly complicated if you aren't familiar with the concepts).4 solid stars.

Very good, easy to follow. Good diagrams and photos.
This book covers the essence of classical training, It's not too wordy, and I found it easy to understand. Good photos with annotations, and lots of drawings of the horse, to show you what the author is explaining.I have a young horse and this book helped me to understand how to move his weight from his stiff-side fore leg and onto his opposite side hind. I have read several books on the topic of horse straightness but this has been the most straightforward one for me grasp the ideas.

Not Worth Buying
Not what it says on the tin! Disappointed by the lack of detail. Very superficial.
