Holy Available: What If Holiness Is about More Than What We Don’t Do?

Gary Thomas presents an excellent model for understanding one's life: that the objective of each one of us should be that we are to be "wholly" available to God, and underlying that attitude is that we are then "holy" available...available for His holy intentions for us, and for our development into ever-greater holiness. I know that's a mouthful, but I do hope you understand the point. Of course, it will help flesh out the point if you read the book :-). He writes from a view that incorporates American Evangelicalism, especially the Reformed branch, but he also adds insights from important Eastern Orthodox figures, who have a stronger tradition of personal growth in holiness.It is a good foundation for his book "Sacred Marriage" (What if the purpose of marriage is more to help us to become holy than to make us happy?) and the related book "A Lifelong Love."

Gary Thomas is truly anointed by God! I just finished reading Holy Available and I am on fire. I realize how much I lack in this area but, whatever it takes the Holy Spirit to do inside of me so I can surrender more of me to God for His purpose, I WANT IT!!!!!!!I highly recommend this book for those who are serious in wanting God to use them!God bless you, Brother Gary...

Once again, Gary Thomas has written a book that has rocked my world. It is a challenge to devote yourself to holiness - not only part of you, but every part of you. I appreciate how transparent Gary is. He often writes about how he has sinned and I can always relate to what he's writing about. If you think you have arrived, Gary's books are not for you. If you want to keep challenging yourself to a deeper relationship with Christ, Gary's books are a never-ending fountain of wisdom.

This book is challenging, but also encouraging. Thomas brings out many points that seem like they should be obvious but are often overlooked in our everyday life. If you are looking to open up your life to God's abundance, this is a good place to start.

A book to make one think and open one's eyes. A thoughtful and doable path to cooperate with God to allow holy change to come. To become wholly and holy available. A very clear and understandable inspiring read.

After reading "The Beautiful Fight", I wanted to read more books by Gary Thomas. I was very disappointed to open my new copy of "Holy Available" and find it was "The Beautiful Fight" under a new title with a new cover and with the "previously titled The Beautiful Fight" is so small as to be virtually invisible. It is okay to rename a book and change the cover - but make it clear that this is what has been done. I could understand if there had been a change of publisher, but I would not expect this kind of deception by Zondervan.
