easy to use with the youtube video
I went on the brand video to guide me on the installation which was easy, apart from the fact that I needed the get the silicone first. overall good and use to mount

Does as it should
Easy enough to install once cutout pane arrived. A little overpriced for some moulded plastic, begging for a knock off copy at a third of the price.

Lack of attention lets it down
august 2016 update: the exterior plastic has yellowed significantly and now looks completely at odds with the uPVC door and window frames installed at the same time.As with a number of other buyers, I bought the adaptors after having double glazing fitted and my cat flaps moved from being in the wall to being in a glass pane. SureFlap could do much much better to ensure customers are happy with their products by providing full information on the cat flap and mounting adaptor packs. The mounting adaptor has a picture of some sort of caulk being added to the adaptor but there are no written details of what this caulk is or why/when you should use it. The adaptor is not 'finished' on the side which meets the glass and you can see all the plastic ribs through the glass reducing the neat appearance of the cat flap and adaptor. You can just see the ribs on the far left in the product picture. The actual cat flap should include dimensions of where the hole in the window is to be positioned if using an adaptor. You WILL have to use one if putting the cat flap in glass whether it's a double glazed unit or not, apertures in windows are cut as circles to the widest diameter and not square as when used in a door, this means you will have gaps at the side of the cat flap where there is free flowing air.My story is that I advised my double glazing supplier/fitter that I would be using the microchip cat flap and he asked me to send details of the dimensions. I scanned the dimensions instructions from the cat flap box and asked the supplier if I need to order the adaptor. He didn't answer so I assumed all was ok AND I assumed they would be cutting a square aperture as per the cat flap instructions. This was my big error - don't assume. The windows duly turned up with round holes which were too low to the bottom of the window for me to use the cat flap adaptor without trimming it.So, three cat flaps installed with gaps either side and I had to order the adaptor (extra postage cost) and then I had to measure each one to cut a slice off so that it would fit. Whilst waiting for the adaptors to arrive I had to stuff the holes with paper to stop the draught. This bit of DIY isn't an issue for me as I had the relevant tools but having to buy a hacksaw will be additional cost if you're not a DIYer.SureFlap should have better communication regarding this pair of products and, let's face it, they will always be a pair - no one will need to order the adaptor if they don't already have the cat flap. The product is vastly overpriced for what it is but due to lack of competition in the microchip cat flap market they have the monopoly and you have no choice. The adaptor instructions are unclear regarding the caulk - simply a picture with no idea what the caulk is or why it's used, the adaptor should have a far neater finish on the inside as this is clearly viewed through a double glazed unit. If I had used the caulk this would also be visible. If you are having the cat flap fitted into glass please be sure to send the glazing manufacturer the adaptor dimensions too so that they can cut the aperture far enough from the edges so that the adaptor will fit without needing to be trimmed. Also, keep all the screws that came with the cat flap as you may need a different size when you fit the adaptor (assuming you've made the same mistake as me and not ordered flap and adaptor together!).I hope this helps.

Think the job through
These mounting adaptors are easy to install as long as you think the job through. Are you screwing them to the wall? Are you happy to use mastic? What will happen if you need to replace the cat flap? Can you uninstall without breaking anything?Be accurate with the hole size and ensure square and level. The adaptor needs to fit flat to the surface so if you get the hole wrong then there is no easy fix.

Does as required
All good, cat flap just slotted in.Top tip re cat flap, if you want to remove the chip reader functionality set to scan mode then take the batteries out. Needed to do this when a cat adopted us

A great way to introduce unwanted drafts into your home.
Overall, the product does what it should. However, the nylon brush draft excluder element around the cat flap door is just not think enough. While you may think that 1 - 2mm gap is small, you know all about it when its windy outside!

Does what it's supposed to.
Essential item if you're fitting the Sureflap Microchip catflap into an existing round hole left by a previous catflap. I bought this as I was replacing an old, broken catflap in a double-glazed glass door. The hole that was originally cut in the glass to accommodate the old catflap was 220mm in diameter, the Sureflap requires a hole of 212mm diameter. So it was just a case of slotting this over the main body of the Sureflap, putting the indoor half of the Sureflap into the hole in the door from the inside, then doing the same on the outside of the door with the other half so that everything inside and out is aligned, then screwing it all together. Voila! Sureflap catflap installed in a few minutes. And I have practically no DIY experience, so that's how easy it is.I didn't use the suggested all weather sealant on the adaptor, as the previous catflap had an adaptor fitted without it, and we had no issues with rain coming in...plus, I didn't have any in the house and just thought I'd give it a try without as I'm impatient to get my two young cats used to it by tonight so I can keep out a large feline intruder who eats their food and sprays (and who broke the last catflap!)If I have any issues with it not being weatherproof due to not using the silicone sealant, I'll report back. UPDATE Jan 2016: Catflap fine without the silicone sealant, have had no leaks whatsoever.
