pretty good but...
I like these ok but I do have some reservations. They have thier good and bad points.First the good. They are squishy and pack up much easier than a metal cup. you can roll them into a ball and stuff them into a pocket on the 'ruck or down into the cookset. Sweet. Also, hot liquids, This stuff is silicone, I can fix hot coffee, tea, soup, chocolate, it doesn't matter, I fix it in my cook set, pour it into the squishy bowl, and I can handle it instantly since the silicone does not transfer the heat to my hand to any signicant degree. Nice.Lastly, they give me added bowl/mug capability on the trail for almost no weight/space cost. I was using my cookset as my bowl/mug. If I boiled water for coffee I then had to wait, until I finished my cup-a-joe, to again boil water to rehydrate a "PackitGourmet" meal. Now I can fix coffee, transfer it to a squishy cup, even boil some water to wash with, and then put on some water to rehydrate my meal while I am doing relaxing with my "lifers' juice."Now for the bad.I must be careful about how I pick them up! REALLY careful, they are SQUISHY! If it is full of boiling water and I am not careful, the thing will collapse and spill the liquid all over my hand. NOT sweet. They are a bit difficult to clean. Everything sticks to the silicone. Just saying.Lastly, while they do squish up I have seen some other designs which simple accordion down flat. I suspect those are better. The rigid ring around the top will negate the problem of the cup/bowl collapsing as I have described and they can still be carried just as easily. The only trade off is the price, these are cheaper.

Cleverly designed cup and bowl useful for hiking and camping
Some reviewers have said "why bother" regarding the cup size. If we're talking drinking ice tea on a sweltering day, I get it. Just like a trekker's water bottle is for quenching thirst, not guzzling, this cup is for enjoying a hot cup of tea or coffee... and if one needs more, getting a refill. Most trekker's mug-pots are single wall to afford boiling/cooking, so keeping liquids hot to enjoy their 450mL to 700mL capacity isn't what they do best. This little cup keeps a full cup (8oz/240mL) of coffee or tea hot all the while you enjoy it. (To-the-brim is foolish, but closes in on 10oz.) Of course it's a squishy cup, so don't squeeze it; it's rigid enough to do the job, not at all floppy nor weak-walled spill-nuisance. The bowl is similar in rigidity and being cool-enough-to-the-hand when filled with hot stuff. Again, don't fill to brim, and if a soup rather than porridge, be sure to hold in the hand at the base for best stability of the walls. Their sizes are good for their purposes, their walls are high to prevent slop-over, their inner surfaces are slick and easy to wash out, their outer surfaces are grippy to be easy to hold, they're made from high temp silicone to hold up to hot stuff and to spring back to shape after being squashed into a weird space. On the other hand, don't poke, pierce, tear, rip, or otherwise come into contact with a sharp object and don't get too near open flame - they're only made from silicone after all. The trekker needs to consider that these are light weight and squish down to fit anywhere, but can't be scrubbed out with sand, washed with ashes, and sterilized on the coals of the fire. So some will stick to their Titanium or Stainless mug-pot or Sierra cup, but for many other hikers and campers, these will be a pleasure to have along to keep their coffee, soup, and stew hot enough to enjoy to the end and hands warm, not burned while being served.

Handy, Easy to Pack
I have had this set for about 7 years and it still looks new. I use the "cup" all the time for food - on the road, camping, and at work. It holds 8 oz up to the brim. Since I am usually eating rice, noodles, thick strew, etc., I do fill it to the brim. If you are eating/drinking liquids, you don't want it all the way to the brim. I have used it for hot chocolate and drinking water. You can carry it from the bottom, but I am always leery of carrying it to far; it is squishy. These pack well. I have smashed the cup into a backpack many times and it pops out in perfect form.I have only used the bowl twice. It is huge - holding 16 ounces, which is way more than I usually want to eat in a sitting. I wish the cups were sold separately; I would buy more, but I don't need more bowls sitting around being unused.

Guides Choice
I bought this bowl set in lime green, then my husband stole it for his outdoor set up and I bought another set in Tahoe blue to replace it. Both my husband and I are mountain guides and have been taking these on all of our mountain trips as well as backpacking/climbing/skiing/road biking trips for the last 2 years. The bowls are durable, light and do indeed squish down for ease of packing. The bowls easily accommodate my morning coffee as well as the variety of backpacking meals that my company makes. The bowl is also very easy to clean. On the bottom of my bowl, it has a temp rating to 450 degrees F which is plenty high considering it is used for my coffee and meals. I love this bowl set and would recommend it to family and friends.

Good bowl and cup... pack well
I bought these for my son who just crossed over to Boy Scouts. I wanted something that was easy to clean and packed up well. They really didn't need a plat so these fit the bill well. The bowl is a little small, but you just go back for seconds if you want more. They clean up easily and pack extremely well. Basically just stick them inside one another and shove them into your pack. This ease of packing makes the bowl a little flimsy, so you need to take care when you pick it up. I would recommend these for scouting, hiking, camping, etc.
