SimCity Creator (Wii)

Faithful to the original series, adds new features
Any previous SimCity player will be able to dive straight into this new conversion - the zoning, buildings and disasters are all immediately recognizable. It's closest in gameplay to SimCity 3000, but time has moved on since this game so the graphics, music and gameplay are superior on the Wii version. Differences? Advisers are now 'hired', allowing you to dispense with them completely if necessary. Some civic buildings (e.g. airport, colleges, large parks) are 'unlocked' by building other objects of the same type or by completing in-game 'missions' - i.e. flying overhead. For those not familiar with the series - SimCity is the best existing city-building simulation, with some fun features so that it isn't as dull as I imagine city planning to be in real life! But balancing the budget, setting taxes and providing services such as healthcare, education and public transport are all important. Zoning the correct balance of residential, industrial and commercial property zones will make sure that you can enjoy seeing a city grow where people have jobs. Low-density eco-village? No problem. Thriving commercial metropolis? The choice is yours to make. 'Disasters' are a nice element of the game, and enjoyed greatly by players - if things are going *too* well, unleash a Godzilla-like monster to destroy all your hard work. Comprehensive tutorials should allow immersion straight into the gameplay experience without reading a heavy manual or hint book.Loses one star for the fiddly control mechanism, but otherwise there is still no finer simulation game, and one that's recommended to anyone who enjoys open-ended gameplay.

A dumbed down version of SimCity
A dumbed down version of SimCity, great if you're a beginner to the series and just want to get a feel for what the PC versions have to offer.

VINTAGE GAME!
I used to play this on my old desktop PC, but I recently upgraded to a Windows 7 laptop. As SimCity is not yet available in Windows 7 format, this Wii version was the next best thing for someone who was addicted to his old game.Although the Wii control is not as accurate as using a mouse, you have to have a steady hand for placing certain items. This is a game for those with patience who like to see their city grow from nothing, although the financial side of it can be a little frustrating. And you can play with multiple (and adjoining) cities simultaneously. You have to search your adviser tips for clues on how to proceed, hidden among some quite bizarre comments!

Simcity creator review
I anticipated playing this game and it being just as good as simcity 4 for the pc. When I opened up the game I realised it is nothing like its pc counterpart. A lot of dumbing down, inferior graphics and a lot less enjoyable to play. In fact I only played it once for about half an hour before I had to turn it off - it's totally appalling. Would not recommend to anyone who has played Simcity 4.

A great buy
This was bought as a gift for an 11-and a 13-year-old, who love it. They can build whole cities and then mercilessly destroy them in Godzilla attacks and start again, without the mess caused when they do the same thing in Lego. I was bit wary about buying this type of product used, but it arrived in a reasonable time, fairly well packaged and in very good condition, at a fraction of the price it would have cost to buy it new.

Great fun
Motion controls take a bit of getting used to, and can be infuriating when trying to draw out areas for building but, with perseverance, this is a very rewarding game. Reminds me a great deal of Sim City on the SNES.

Not as good as the PC version but this particular item was very good value for money and my kids are very happy with it.
