Jaguar: One Man's Struggle To Establish The World's First Jaguar Preserve

I read this as a requirement for my J-term study abroad trip to Belize. We visited the Cockscomb basin and I don't think Mr. Rabinowitz managed to convey the wild beauty as stunning as it was. This book is engaging and insightful. I learned so much about the native cultures & wildlife & conservation. I still have an occasional nightmare about Bot flies from his horror stories and where a woman found some... 9/10 would recommend this book!

A most interesting account of Alans struggle and commitment to saving the Jaguar. This could be replicated for almost every wild species that need our help. We need to care, and we need to act on our caring.Having been to Belize and hiked in the sanctuary he created, i am most grateful for his efforts. The hardships he endured.. as well as his perceptions about a way of life we can only imagine made this a fascinating book.

I picked this as a "Common Reading Program" book for a college whose mascot is "The Jaguar," but they haven't selected it yet....WONDERFUL story, with environmental activism built in and a sure result of seeing it!

Along with all of Alan's books this one doesn't disappoint.
