Amazing, use these and nothing else.
The media could not be loaded. Can't speak highly enough about these membrane aerators. Use one 9" for my whole pond and removed the other 6 small ones I had. Last forever and easy to clean, not that you really ever need too. Use a hulahoop to contain the ripples.

Great option for large koi pond if you use a strong pump.
You need pvc pipe and connectors.. and you will need to weight it all down. At 2-3ft the blast is about the same 9" round. If you want to use a pump like the "Lewisia 45W Commercial Air Pump 952 GPH" which will push out strong blast of bubbles (probably can use a weaker pump),... use a non-kinking hose to the pvc (barb adapter) because any kink will kill the flow. You can use a "BN-LINK Compact Outdoor Mechanical 24 Hour Programmable Dual Outlet Timer" or similar that can do 15 minute on, 15 minute off cycles to keep the pump from over heating in the hot summer and make sure it lasts a long time before failure. I used pvc pipe, a couple of pvc T's and 4 elbows to create a rectangle under this.. laid a brick on it and tied it... connected a line to it for retrieval. I tried the black hose and stones.. they did not do well. This is the solution.

Great Diffuser
Take a bucket ( I used a 3.5 gal ), add a removable lid. Drill hole in top of that lid for diffuser threads to stick thru and attach 3/4 pvc coupling with hose nipple. Add some rock for weight. Drill hole in side of bucket for airline to enter. Attach to diffuser and screw on lid. Wala. Now I have a cheap awesome diffuser that creates millions of small bubbles like my other Matala diffuser that was three times the price.

great for the money
For the price this seems like it can't be beat. Mine has only been hooked up for a day just over 1cfm at 7-8ft depth but it bubbles very nicely. I connected mine to a 3/4-1/2" galvanized bell reducer and then ran a 1/2x2-1/2 galv steel pipe nipple that I put through a hole in a brick for extra weight to a 1/2fnpt x 1/2 hose barb 90* fitting to connect to my 1/2 weighted hose. It seems like it is designed with a check valve to keep water out if it loses pressure but I can't confirm that. This is my first of this type of diffuser so i don't have anything to compare it to.
