good alround instrment for the price

DAVIS sextants (brilliant).
My DAVIS sextant and I have been together for longer than my wife and I. I bought it as a "plastic toy" to practice with until I could afford a proper brass one. I have since worked in many places including Mauritius and Bahrain. I bought a brass sextant from India advertised on e-bay, (what a rip off) nowhere near as good as the DAVIS, After more than 30 years my DAVIS is still going strong and even more importantly is still delivering accurate readings. Beware Indian made sextants even if they bear a well known brand name.
