This is a lovely butter crock and was a wonderful gift

Well packed, arrived in good order. Ran it through the dishwasher before using- came out fine. Easy to pack with butter, inner water line marking on the the inside of the base makes it simple to out in the right amount of water (I use a little less to minimize drips). Butter stays spreadable. I use block butter so I’m not sure exactly how much the crock holds, looks like it might be around one stick.

Works perfectly.....so much healthier than using a butter tray and leaving it on the counter. It's a healthy way to have "soft butter" available at all times.

There is a water line in the butter container which you do have to fill. I got lazy one time and emptied the water and refilled the butter and didn't refill the water. . . . Mold.(within a week) Anytime i've had water in there, perfect. This may be obvious, but rather than test it yourself, let my experience save you a stick of butter. You could probably fit 2 full sticks inside of this, but I usually put one. I was worried about water getting all up in my butter but it really isn't an issue. If you're worried that much you can take it out, and tap it on a paper towel so it doesn't drip. It's pretty sturdy ( I wouldn't throw it across the room or drop it...) But normal washing, dinging, and clinking around seems fine (no chips) I wash mine in the dishwasher and haven't had any issues. Great color, good gift, or splurge for yourself.

Only giving 1 star so I can leave a comment. Please please do not purchase anything from the seller. I was not happy with the way the butter tasted after leaving it in the crock. I’ve always left my butter out on the counter and it’s tasted fine, but leaving it in this water for some reason, just didn’t taste good to me. So I sent the product back via UPS with the label that the shipper provided me. Somehow the package got lost never made it back to the seller. I have proof of dropping the package off ups they still will not refund my purchase amount because the package was lost apparently. Just trying to warn people this is a third-party seller that is not living up to Amazon standards. Beware.

We love this brand because it is great quality and it lasts (you will pay a pretty penny for it though). The color was beautiful and it matched a theme we were going for (it looks exactly as pictured). It is great, we use it almost daily! We have not had any mold issues like I have seen with other reviewers (for butter crocks). I do change the water out every 3 days, and use filtered water (or water that has been boiled). I do a quick clean of the crock before adding new water and I wipe the butter section with a clean paper towel. I really recommend getting a good butter like Kerrygold. You also have to really pack it in the butter crock or it can fall out in to the butter (I did not have that issues but saw some other reviewers mention that, but found it the butter is packed tight enough it will not fall). We tried 5 different sites to get this same butter crock, all were out of stock. We were so happy when Amazon had it! It shipped quickly and it was wrapped really well. I was so nervous it would be broken, but there was bubble wrap and it came double boxed for protection.

Here's how to make sure the butter doesn't fall into the water: 1. Use salted butter, not unsalted butter. Salted butter will stay firmer at room temperature. (Don't believe me? Leave out a stick of both one night, and compare the next morning.) 2. Really pack the salted butter into the urn. Push with the back of a spoon to make sure it's in there. You should hear air bubbles popping out of the butter. You don't want that air in there -- if there's air between the butter and the sides, water can creep up into those pockets and cause the falling some people talk about. Don't be afraid to pack it too hard -- the butter will still be super soft. 3. Leave a little bit of a "cave" in the center of the butter, and again pack in the sides. 4. Do all of this with pre-softened butter. Don't try to pack in hard or semi-hard butter. Don't cool down your crock beforehand either -- the crock will warm to room temperature soon after, and you don't want air to form! Pack the butter and the crock at the temperature they will both be stored at! Yes, a little bit of water will try to come up the sides, but it won't be able to due to the packed butter. And your butter will never fall if you follow those steps (assuming your house isn't above 78 degrees). I love this thing -- cute, compact, functional. I took off a star for two reasons -- 1) the first one arrived broken; and 2) mine says "made in China," which is different than the description.
