Nice watch... but short strap
Watch is very elegant to look at... only problem is the strap is very short. I have relatively thin wrists and the strap only buckles in the first hole. Only barely reaches the first retaining loop.

Complex Beauty in the Classic Style
I love to wear and collect fine watches-my preference always being for the more traditional analogue styles so I was delighted to receive this timepiece for review. The Swan and Edgar name is a famous one associated with a very British take on quality and design, but I do have to burst the bubble somewhat by saying this is Chinese made....If you can get beyond this, then this is a beautifully presented watch with a slipcased leather box, cushion and moniker of the company. The heart of the watch is the face and it will be your reaction to this which will determine your feelings about the timepiece as a whole. It is, to my mind, a very striking and beautiful face, but it is undoubtedly a very busy one which I don't mind in the least, but some may find distracting. The watch carries the title Complexity Automatic and it is certainly that with a cut out skeleton dial front and back with moving parts as well as dials for date/business quarter, day of the week and sun/moon. These features are set against the backdrop of a multi textured dial and encased in sapphire glass which really adds lustre and impact to the piece. You also have a second hand and number picked out in Roman numerals and conventional numbers. As I said lots going on, but the actual hands are still quite easy to read finished as they are in a smart gold colour. The brown leather strap adds to the appeal of the watch with its distinct shine prominent thanks to it being waxed and holes which are well placed to ensure a good fit flush to the wrist. The crowns control the dials with easy push button adjustment and whilst this is a genuine automatic devoid of batteries, it can be wound using the central crown. Note its water resistance is really at the level of splash proof and not immersion in pool or shower, but then this is not the watch to place in such danger even if it does carry the reassurance of a five year warranty. The watch has a good weight and harmonious proportions and given its styling is the perfect choice for business or a smart evening out at the theatre with friends. I love this watch and will get great pleasure from wearing it-a tasteful statement on your wrist that makes you feel good.

Great watch, a couple of minor niggles
This Swan and Edgar automatic watch is a lovely looking thing. I adore the rose gold case (I might have gone for a darker face if it wasn’t for the chrome case with the darker model) and it really suits the tobacco brown strap. The face has a view into the mechanism, a day and night dial, a day of the week dial and a date (day only) dial. The crown changes the hands, and a rotation of the face moves the day and night dial. The two dials are controlled by the two buttons either side of the crown and move the dials on one place per push – slight niggle, it would be good if these were locked unless the crown has pulled out but you are unlikely to push them accidentally. The special features suggest it glows in the dark – not that I can see but it is no loss. The automatic function works well and the watch is making good time. I don’t understand why the roman numerals on the face are split in the middle along a texture change in the face – a design choice I wouldn’t have made. There is a niggle in the face design, however. The roman numeral IV is rendered IIII and this is just annoying – but not annoying enough to affect the score or to stop this quickly becoming a favourite watch.

It’s a Nice Watch
The watch is very nice. I have the Gold one with the brown strap and it’s very striking.the face is very bright and clear with a lovely and well fade face with some very nice features. The strap seems to be if high quality and although very stiff it’s quite comfortable. The more you wear it the softer the strap will get too. The strap is quite short though so if you’ve got larger wrists you may struggle with the length.Getting the watch started is a bit of a struggle but once gone it’s perpetually wound by your movement so it shouldn’t need to be hand wound if you wear it often and move a lot.Overall this is a very nice and stylish watch which is suitable for various occasions, is well made and is a nice addition to any collection.
