The Tool Connect app with custom speed/torque settings is what makes this driver outstanding, aside from great performance, power, build quality and ergonomics.This driver gives you 4 speed/torque settings: 1 fixed speed on the 'home' setting (@ the tool's max speed of 3250 RPM), plus 3 customizable speed settings that can be individually set between 1000-3250 RPM. These 3 settings can be changed at any time with the app. This gives you the ability to adjust the driver to exactly the speed and torque for any application.Note: when I first got this tool there was a bug in the Tool Connect app with the latest iPhone iOS. I emailed DeWalt tech support; they immediately got back to me and said they would address the problem. A few days later they released an update to the app that fixed the problem — plus they emailed me to let me know the update was available. Very unusual for tech support these days!Highly recommended.

I’ve decided to go with the Dewalt universe since many tools have been converted from cord to cordless with little impact to power. This impact driver is very powerful. It fits in the hand, at least mine, very comfortably. I bought the tool only as I have the flexvolt 6ah and 9ah. Even with the 6ah, it isn’t bothersome for me. It does wear you down a bit after 40+ screws but very doable. I have power for a great amount of time so the trade off to me is very fair. Plus I can switch that battery into a 60v tool, such as the 557 circular saw. I am enjoying this Dewalt driver, I would also recommend not to listen to “fan boys” of the competitors online. Just go try out what you like and buy it if it makes sense. For me the Dewalt is worth it, even if there is a bit of premium for the brand name. Note, I also own the Milwaukee M12 Fuel tools and batteries, but for the bigger 18v+ I’ve decided that there were more tools I’d need offered by Dewalt.

I’ve had this impact for over three years now and I’ve used it in commercial work most. During metal framing, I screwed Framing screws into a red iron steal beam for my top plate. Still working strong

This driver has plenty of power, and is comfortable to hold all day. I chose this over the dw887, mainly because I like technology and the price difference wasn’t huge. I really like the ability to connect to my phone and adjust rpm, and the screw driver mode. That has come in handy when teaching my kids how to use it, and building or assembling furniture. The lend mode could be useful. The tracking is kind of pointless since it just tells you the address where your phone last connected to it. (Would be much more useful if it could be tracked in real time, though that’s probably not very feasible). I think it was worth a little extra for the ability to adjust all the settings. The one thing I’m not sure of is if/how the speed setting effects the torque output.

Basically the best impact driver with the bonus Bluetooth monitoring. I wish it could also have GPS tracking but after having a couple 887 models get stolen at work this at least helps to keep a better eye on where it's at and to disable it when it roams too far from my phone. The gun itself is just solid and seems to have far less wobble then my older 887.

The team that came to remodel my kitchen all had new DeWalt tools including the DCF885 with a brushed motor. I just had to have one for myself. They used theirs for demo, cabinet install, floor reinforcement. Such a versatile tool. So, after doing some research I settled on a brushless motor and customization offered with the DCF888B. What I like most is the Tool Control feature that enables you to change the torque and speed to suit the task at hand. No more stripping screws due to too fast a speed. The first use I put the DCF888 to was to extract 2" screws cemented in tile. Not a problem using an extractor bit.I hardly use my 1/2" chuck corded Milwaukee drill any more. I have been a hold out on buying cordless tools after my experience with my Makita NiCad drill, 1983 vintage...that is, until I watched the carpenters in my kitchen for 2 months using their DeWalt Impact Drills. That convinced me to get one this year (Jan 1, 2018)The battery that came with the DeWalt leaf blower along with two 20 V 9-Amp FlexVolt batteries and a DCB118 Fast Charger are all I need to power this beauty for any task. Yes, I know the 9-Amp batteries are overkill for the DCF888 but not for a power-hungry leaf blower! NO REGRETS. GREAT TOOL.

This, overall, is a great tool. It has lots of power, feels great in the hand, and excellent battery life. Bit changes are fast and easy and can be done with one hand. My only real complaint is that it can be really loud. I was outside using it to put a chair together the other day and I could hear the sound of the driver echoing off the neighbor's house. I thought one of my neighbors might come out and yell at me. It seems that impact drivers from other brands are at least a little quieter, if not a lot quieter.I should mention as an FYI that this model does have plenty of torque for removing lug nuts from my truck. It doesn't hesitate at all.I really love the Tool Connect feature. Pairing it to my phone to adjust its behavior is just awesome. I don't particularly care about the loss-prevention features of Tool Connect, but adjusting tool settings is a real winner. I wish all of my DeWalt tools had that.
