Harbor Tools30037 Grommet Installation Kit, 103 Piece, White

I found these to be of very poor quality. I would guess that nearly 1/3 of the base unit (the half that fits the hole you cut) were already bent and deformed upon opening the package. They are made of such light weight aluminum that I think that just crowding them into their vinyl packaging they become deformed. I picked through the bunch, threw out the deformed to the trash and used what was left. Those that were of usable form did function quite well: hole cutter cut well and the crimping tool did it's thing easily. The finished grommets looked professionally done. Just hate paying for stuff that is not fully usable. Obviously this adds greatly to the expense per item.

I purchased this kit to grommet several posters I had printed for an event. The posters were printed on vinyl and the grommet punch would not go through the material. I had to find other means to make the holes, but got the job done. The tool for actually installing the grommets worked great. However, if I ever have this many grommets to punch/install again I will likely shell out the money for an actual machine/heavier press.

The tool that is suppose to "cut" the hole in the canvas did not even get close, best case it left a template for where I needed to cut the hole with my razor knife... then the tool that crimps the two parts together did a lousy job as well and the grommet looks horrible. I say it is okay because for the price I do have a new hole with a solid grommet in place. Just took a little extra work and it is not anywhere close to the OEM grommets.

The tools are sturdy and work well. I am not as pleased about the grommets which seem thin and flimsy; however, if the grommets were thicker I might not be able to secure them to the material as well.

These are made of aluminum. Not very strong. Bends very easy. I prefer brass or harder metal but couldn't find anything so I took a chance on this. I mean they are ok but not as strong as I needed them to be. They are easily bent.

For the money this kit is great. I'm using it for photography backdrops and it's fine, easy to use. But the metal would probably not stand up well to outside elements.

It did the job as intended, though the directions were a little unclear in the photos to see exactly which tool or piece of the grommet goes where.

I found that this is the best buy I could find to repair a tarp. I am tired of throwing away tarps because the groomets have torn out from strong wind. There was a kit I could have bought locally at Wal-Mart but it only contained 24 pieces. And the fasteners was made of plastic. This kit has over 100 pieces. And the fastener is metal. That to me is important. It will work better better.
