A story to make you imagine
There is something about this story that pulls you in from the first sentence. The illustrations keep you riding along on this journey while the snow gently falls. If you want to inspire the imagination in a child’s world, read this tale to them.

This wonderful book is the result
For over a decade artist/writer Jackie Morris painted a Christmas card for the Musicians Benevolent Society, a UK charity to benefit musicians. One day, she was looking at the collection of cards she had designed for them and a story happened. This wonderful book is the result. The illustrations are wonderfully whimsical, wonderfully intricate and colorful. The illustrations alone are worth the price of the book. But, the story turns them into something magical. This books is a wonderful refuge from the brash, loud, broken world. When you need some peace, quiet, and and a place to catch your breath, you'll find it between the covers of this most excellent book.

The illustrations are amazing and beautiful
I like the gentleness of the narrative. It's nice to have short stories to read at different times. It is a lovely book.

What A Wonderful Place To Be
I bought this book for my grandchildren but after it arrived I fell so deeply in love with it that I kept it for myself. The art, the story, the place of being are all Devine. I keep escaping into this magical place. And yes, I did get a another copy for my family. This book can be appreciated by all ages.

Weird and Wonderful
The illustrations are fantastic in both senses of the word! The text is a little tedious but the art more than makes up for it.

A Tall Tale with Intriguing Illustrations
I'm collecting artistic story books for my soon-to-be grandchild. A hope chest of books. This one will be enjoyed by adults and children alike ... you can just look at the other-worldly illustrations with a child until they are old enough for the stories themselves.

Jackie Morris Strikes the right note
This is a fabulous book. It tells understated stories while illuminating their meaning through exquisite illustrations.Once again Jackie Morris engages her readers with magical charm and warm mythical tales. There are beasts aplenty, look at the set of the lions head, look at the sense of speed given to sleek hares or running dogs look at the energy there mustered. Look at the stride of the angel in The City of Music. Look for minute details of instruments and shoes. The illustrations have worldwide appeal.and what links them all is music and storytelling through music. Music is harmony and love, it is binding and freeing, it is contentment and familiarity. Its absence is the silence of the least desirable sort. above all it is humanising.

Magical
Picture books are not just for children! This beautiful book with its glorious cover illustration and enigmatic title just draws you in. I was familiar with some of Jackie Morris's work but not with this glorious work of the imagination. I was not disappointed. The introduction explaining how the book came about was particularly interesting and invites the reader to interact with the book in their own way and not to consider the text as a given. Having said picture books are not just for children I 'm sure many teachers would be just itching to use individual illustrations as stimulus for creative work

Delicate, evocative pictures and gentle stories
I love Jackie Morris's work, it's like no-one else's. Her illustrations (watercolor) are vivid, tender, mystical and strange, and her stories insinuate their way into your psyche and your heart. She summons a world that you want to enter, and leads you along in words and paintings. She supports the charity Help Musicians UK, and you can buy her designs on cards to support them too. A unique talent and a precious book.

Lovely
I have purchased 5 books of this author for Christmas for my children (2 & 4yo). This one is not a young child's book as the pictures are fewer and the length of stories are longer. I however will keep it as they will grow into it and I'll enjoy it in the meantime. I highly recommend her other children's books.
