Pattern Behavior: The Seamy Side of Fashion

If you appreciate vintage sewing patterns going back 70+ years you'll want to own this book. If you dislike those who are disrespectful to vintage sewing patterns with crude and vulgar remarks in the vein of a 12-year-old boy, I would carefully consider purchasing it.I purchased the Kindle edition and I suggest downloading a free sample to get an idea of what the book looks like.

It doesn't matter if you don't love sewing. An appreciation for vintage images and modern text should be sufficient to laugh so much that you're banned from reading around people for a while. I want to bulk buy this book and send it to all my crafty friends for maximum affirmation of my taste in books and humor. Just read this and laugh! It's a very full book (though I could go for a sequel...). Have fun!

I mostly purchased it to go on my sewing shelf as a decoration and for that purpose, it's great. But the supposedly "funny/snarky" comments were neither. I didn't find the author's comments funny in any way but I did like the pictures of the old pattern covers.

Absolutely hilarious! I send a lot of handwritten cards to friends and family, and they will get a kick out of receiving these--especially my female friends and family since we all used to sew with Simplicity patterns when we were young. The author of the captions is insanely creative so if you offend easily or don't have a sense of humor, don't purchase these!

This is a FUN book. The patterns will bring back memories - good and bad. For Baby Boomers you’ll remember the nasty polyester, groovy “fashions”. You’ll laugh and joke with your siblings about the stuff mom got from McCall’s. The grandchildren loved the book, the smart tag lines matched with great art crosses generations. Buy it for the fun.

I love Pattern Behavior and I was so excited to see that I could gift this book to funny friends who would appreciate it! It's lovely, bright, hardback, and makes a perfect coffee table book. Every page is laugh-out-loud funny. Big fan. Highly recommend!

I laughed the first time I opened it in the bookstore. I laughed at every page I looked at on the way up to the register and out to my car. Reading and re-reading it at home, I laughed some more. And not only is this a great humor book, it is one of the most perfect books I have ever encountered, a Platonic ideal of an illustrated volume.

Anyone who has sewed with McCalls patterns will appreciate the pics...anyone with a sense of humor will absolutely love this ...great coffeee table book...and a great gift!

I was expecting great things but the so called humour was a bit childish. In the right hands this could have been a great little book. Don't waste your money.

Good book, arrived very quickly. Lots of old pattern images to see.

Not worth the extravagant price. It took 5 minutes to read the whole thing, there are a few really funny bits but the laughs only lasted for a minute and it was over.
