Ludwig von Mises on Money and Inflation: A Synthesis of Several Lectures

These are a collection seminars or lectures given by Mises. The lectures were given almost 40 years ago, but holds true now.

If only the world would follow the advice given in this book. This should be mandatory reading in every school across the world. Important and perhaps complex concepts explained simply and eloquently. A mark that shows that Ludwig von Mises had mastered these concepts.

経済学者ルートヴィヒ･フォン・ミーゼスが1960年代に行った講義をまとめ、2010年に刊行したもの。昔から権力者の懐が寂しくなると、必ず頼る手段がある。カネづくりである。金貨ならば、金の含有量を減らす。金を裏付けとする兌換紙幣ならば、裏付けになる金を減らす。何の裏付けもない不換紙幣ならば、何はばかることなく刷りまくる。「豊かな社会にする」「安心できる社会にする」という大義名分を掲げて。しかし社会を物質的に豊かにするのは、カネではない。衣食住をはじめとする物である。カネの量を増やしても、物の量を増やさなければ、物の値段が上がるだけである。これでは社会は豊かにならない。そればかりではない。政府の操作で物価が上がる（カネの価値が下がる）と、人々が蓄えた貯蓄の価値が損なわれる。安心できる社会になるどころか、人々を不安に追いやる。勤勉・倹約の精神が破壊される。ミーゼスはこれを「すさまじい革命」と呼ぶ。最悪の革命はテロリストや過激派によって起こされるのではない。政府のインフレ政策によって日々推し進められているのである。
