Heavy Metal: Louder Than Life [DVD]

A brilliant documentary for a brilliant music genre!!!
First of all, this is one of the best and most complete documentaries I've ever seen. It covers not only the history of heavy metal but also every kind of aspect related to it - the music, the performers, the imagery, the lyrics and so on...With the collaboration of many great artists such as Ronnie James Dio, James Hetfield, Rob halford, Dee Snider, Scott Ian or Jonathan Davis, this film is packed with many interviews and original music from the bands that made the history of this genre. In addiction, the dvd is full of interesting extras wich include a great overview of the world of metal by Twisted Sister's frontman Dee Snider, a metal timeline from the late 60's to present day and a guide to essential albuns in the history of metal. There is, however, one problem that prevents me from giving a 5 star rating to this dvd, and that is the (almost) total omission of the european metal scene in the 90's and 2000's. We simply cannot forget the contribution and impact of the european scene on this music, from the nordic black metal to Germany power metal and gothic bands who carried the flag all these years...Overall, this is a great 2 dvd set, and if you're into this kind of music, or if your not into, but would like to understand it, you should buy this dvd. Plus, the price is truly a bargain! Dont miss it for the world!

Great insight into the best music in the world
Very cool insight into the history of heavy metal,it does all the genres so it's got something for everyone,as a metal fan since the late 70's myself there was nothing in the DVD I didn't already know but believe me that takes nothing from this documentary, buy it you won't feel short changed
