Incredibly good starter kit for beginners, but NO INSTRUCTIONS; seek tutorials!
Up-front: felting is not rocket surgery. The worst case scenario on your first felting attempt is simply that you stab yourself more than you intend to with the felting needle. The lack of instructions, however, does mean that this product will - for SOME users! - require supplementation in the form of print or video tutorials for how felting works. That's not a huge problem, just something to be aware of if you intend this as a gift for a teen or kid who hasn't done any fibrecrafts before, and who doesn't have the initiative to muddle their way through it until they figure it out. That ONE and ONLY concern aside, this kit is one of the best hobby-onboarding kits I've ever encountered, in a long career of picking up hobbies just long enough to finish one satisfying project and then never touching my supplies again. It gives you every material you need to make some little projects, like felt amigurumi / plushies of cute little animals or baby pokemon. The colours available are diverse enough that you'll likely have what you need. The wool roving comes in 5 ounces of each colour. 5 ounces, felted into a firm sphere, will come out to the size of a golf ball, or slightly bigger, so think of this as "15 golf ball sizes worth of roving."The felting needles come in a safety containment tube with a sturdy lid, so you can store and retrieve them without potentially injuring yourself. The foam block is SUBSTANTIAL and very good at receiving the needle safely on the other side of the project as you work. It all stores compactly in a strong ziploc-style plastic bag, and with separate plastic pouches for each colour of roving, so they don't tangle each other.I couldn't be happier with this kit, and I'll be looking into other products by Incraftables, to see what else they offer for a serial hobbyist like me.

Nice to start
I'm new to needle felting and I've only done part of one project. I like this kit because it comes with various colors and other supplies that will be necessary to learn. Although it's designed to be for beginners, it would be nice if they included instructions for a simple project. That's the only reason I feel like it's not 100% for beginners. If you happen to get this as a gift for someone, consider printing out instructions for a simple project to add to the kit.

Great kit for beginners who need all the tools and colors
I wouldn’t be able to speak to the professional/expert side of things because I’m totally new to the felting world, but I can say that this kit has a lot to offer a beginner. You shouldn’t find yourself needing anything to begin the process of learning how to felt if you have this kit at your fingertips. In my amateur opinion, the materials in this kit seem high-quality enough that those with average and above-average experience and skill with felting will still get lots of use out of the set, and at the very least, they’ll benefit from a plethora of vibrant colors. For the price, you can’t go wrong!

Great Kit for Beginners
I've been sewing for over 60 years (I'm 67), and my mother taught me to "hand" sew as soon as I was old enough to hold a needle (I was around 3). The first time I made a dress on her Singer 501, I was 5, and I wore my creation to kindergarten. What hideous material! Oh well, I am sure that I thought I looked great, and to my mother's credit, she let me wear it!In all that time, I've probably felted 2 or 3 times, just to embellish some sewing project. Now, I want to learn felting in earnest. This beginner's kit seems to be of good quality, and has everything I need to "get my feet wet" without investing in all kinds of new accessories, and not really knowing what I'm doing. I'm reading everything I can get my hands on, and watching videos on YouTube, but there's nothing like actual experience to teach one's self what the hell's really going on.I recommend this kit for beginners. We'll see if I still think it's a home run, after I've been felting for awhile!

Great for a new-ish needle-felter, a beginner would need a book or something to go with this
I got this for my daughter, who is felting gifts for her friends. These are the words she just dictated to me:All of the colors are very nice. The dye is even, so the color is consistent. No weird marble-y look to them. The wool is, well, wool. Even though it takes up a pretty small amount of space, when you unroll it, it is a good length. I tend to work with strips of wool, as I find that easier to do.It comes with a nice bottle of needles, and I love that it is in a bottle. But it doesn't tell me what size those needles are.The eyes are super small, which are really amazing! I have a lot of safety eyes, but none this small, and these are great for needle felting projects. This kit would be good for beginners if they have a book or video already that gives them a pattern and instruction. If you are someone like me who has done some real beginner types of kits and is looking to expand your collection, this is great, as you get tools and a variety of colors of wool.

Great variety of colors plus nice accessories
I ordered this to use for making felted wool animals. The kit comes in a ziplock style bag and each color of wool is individually packaged, as is the plastic case of needles and the bag of accessories. The foam block is also tucked into the bag, and it’s a reasonable size given that you’d be making small items from this kit (or one or two larger multicolored items if you wanted to). The accessories I’m most interested in using are the little black eye pieces. I’m not planning to put the finished products on keychains or anything, but I don’t think those accessories will go to waste since both my daughter and I do plenty of crafting. I like the variety of colors, and the color saturation is deep and even. This particular variety of colors is well suited for making little birds (cardinals, blue jays, etc.). That said, there are so many possibilities. Just remember to plan your project size according to the amount of wool you have in a particular color, so you don’t run short.
