okay for keeping out debris but not drafts
I have a non functioning fireplace that has not been sealed from the bottom yet. I measured it at 9 inches deep and bought the standard size. That did not have a snug fit. So I returned it and ordered the large size, and it seemed to be doing what it was designed to do: blocking the flue. I watched the online video (chimella.us) and was not able to adjust this thing after insertion on either try. So minus one star for that. I’m grateful though for the generous return policy. I took off another star because months later, in the dead of winter, I discovered that a draft was coming through the chimney. So I think this helps keep debris and insects out, but it does not stop all drafts. That’s not surprising because it is made of the same material as an umbrella. So now I need to figure out how to stop the draft, maybe by inserting some fiberglass.
