Dreams Lie Beneath

Magicians that fight nightmares
Dreams Lie Beneath is an amazing book about Magicians that fight nightmares. Clementine is a strong FMC, and her character stays constant throughout the story. Dreams Lie Beneath leans YA, but it is a great story for YA and older. Rebecca Ross writes magical books. The books pacing is slower, but there is so much beautiful detail about what is going that it is appreciated. Dreams Lie Beneath is a one and done book, story is wrapped up by the end of the book. There is no spice in this book, but the slow burn is worth it. There is fighting of nightmares and other Magicians. There are so many fun twists and turns that you will want to reread.I would recommend this book to any fantasy readers!I will read anything Rebecca Ross writes. She is one of my favorite authors of all times. Rebecca Ross's Divine Rivals is my favorite book.

An Engrossing Read That Leaves You With Some Questions
I am making my way through Rebecca Ross' books after reading the gem that is Divine Rivals, and Dreams Lie Beneath does not disappoint. The story is totally engrossing from the start, and it's easy to picture what this world is like. I've never read anything like it, and of course Rebecca Ross' writing is a treat in itself. There are some things I didn't like, but they're mostly due to the story kind of ending abruptly. If there was an extra 50, maybe even a full 100 additional pages here I feel like all of the questions I have would have been answered naturally. Though this is a standalone and feels complete, you're left wondering what happened to certain people or why they made certain choices-- the pace is steady but brisk throughout the first 3/4 of the novel, but that last quarter moves at such a clip you'll find yourself wondering how on earth you got there.Overall, it's a 4 star for me. I'm not going to keep it on my bookshelf, but it was a great story that will certainly stick with me.

Enchanting read
Love this book and the story of dreams and wardens and a court in the sky. My only criticism is that the ending felt abrupt. I love all of Rebecca’s books and her style of writing but of all her novels this one felt the most unfinished. One or two chapters more would have been good.

Beautiful and Unique
4.5/5⭐️My first Ross book but definitely won’t be my last.Beautiful and unique fantasy world-building, characters to root for and love and a story that is absorbing and gorgeously written…unfortunately for me, it’s a standalone.Happy to have discovered this author.

was not fully satisfied w/ the ending, but loved it
I loved the book and did not look forward to finishing it. I really think it needs a sequel! PLEASE.But I was not fully satisfied with the ending. The ending battle was lackluster. And the ending between the two lovers was too. For some reason I didn’t feel like they had a satisfactory closure and acknowledgement of how they ended up and where they were headed. So while the latter quarter of the book didn’t quite live up to my expectations, I still loved the book and enjoyed the unique story. I think this world has a lot of potential and I wish there was another book so I can see how our two heroes end up

Promising, but confusing ending.
This book started incredibly strong! The plot and unique use of magic is really great.I finished this book a week ago and I'm struggling to remember the plot and name of the characters, which is a flag that it is not a 5 star book. From what I can remember, the book starts about a girl and her father, who help the town by collecting nightmares and then fighting them with magic. Two brothers show up, that the father seems to be wary of for mysterious reasons. The girl and her father lose the battle against them when they are challenged to a duel of the nightmares. They then feel that they have to leave, which later makes sense, but at the time it didn't. There wasn't enough hinting towards why it was so important that they leave right away. As usual, there is just a lack of communication. The father doesn't trust his only daughter with some vital information that would have changed a lot of things. There were plenty of opportunities in the rest of the story for the characters to really grow, but the main character (Clem) remained relatively immature. The romance part was really thin throughout as well. I don't understand how the feelings barely seemed to be there, but at the end all of a sudden they are madly in love. There was nothing that really led to that quick love. Lastly, the name choice for these characters just weren't the best.In a predicting plot twist, both of their families are actually the reason for this curse on everyone. For some reason, that is never told, they left and chose not to break the curse. I still don't know why they waited over a hundred years to break this curse. This is when the book really nose dived to a three star. It was really confusing. I'm an adult and I still had difficulty understanding the ending. The brother that was stuck all those years was really corny too.And all of a sudden all the rules are different. There was an incredible amount of promise, if it weren't for the really confusing bit once they got to the top of the mountain.I wouldn't read it again, but I did enjoy reading it.

Beautiful story
I really loved this book, the characters, the magic and the adventure. The only reason for the 4 stars is I did feel like there were some loose ends and much more could have been said about the other characters and what happened after. There are some really sweet moments between the two main characters that I enjoyed. I also loved the friendships in this story there was definitely never a dull moment.
