3 Releases: The Short Game System: Transform Your Technique & Thinking

Transformative...
As the title of Dan's book mentions "Transform your technique & thinking," 3 Releases: The Short Game System is doing this very thing for me - it's transforming my technique and thinking. As we all know, the game of golf is as, or more, cerebral as it is anything else. Whether playing a full shot, a short shot, or a shot in-between, the more our technique and thinking can be streamlined and focused the more likely the outcome will meet our expectations. Dan's book helps in both of these areas.Unlike so many golf-centric "systems," Dan's system is quite easy to grasp and begin implementing immediately, starting with Release #1. Once the basics of Release #1 - the "bread and butter" short game shot - are understood, Release #2 & Release #3 can also be assimilated fairly easily. One of the beautiful things about the 3 Releases is Dan's explanation of each Release as well as the accompanying photographs that illustrate his wisdom. In addition to the Releases, Dan teaches students how to approach different types of lies, terrain, pitching (30-90 yards range for him), bunkers, etc., AND he spends some time focusing on Golf IQ.Suffice it to say, in a short span of 148 pages, Dan covers A LOT of ground with many nuggets of golf wisdom and helpful advice. From my perspective, this is one of the best investments I've made in my golf game in years, and I'd highly recommend it to any student of the game who desires to take their short game to the next level.

Valuable information!
I’m currently a plus 3 handicap and I learned several key pieces of information that will dramatically help my short game. I realize now where I’ve gone wrong in the past with some of the shots I’ve been inconsistent with. Concepts were quick and to the point. I was able to read the entire book in one evening and feel retained all of the information. Great illustrations as well!

The best short game book, hands down!
This book is an absolute short game, game changer. After having a decent short game for years I suddenly developed short game yips and it nearly ruined golf for me. The techniques and mindsets in this book were an absolute cure. Here's why:-Each shot is explained in detail, but with simple and easy to understand terms; non-technical.-When and why to use each shot is explained in addition to the "how," opening many more options up around the green.-Dan does an amazing job of connoting "feel" for the shots and movements and offers many helpful tips to obtain that feel...something very hard to do in print. For instance, I was struggling with my swing being disconnected from my body...all arms and hands. The thought of "pushing through the left shoulder" to start the backswing immediately improved chest rotation.-Each chapter ends with a short list of the important components of the shot coupled with photos making it VERY easy to take with you to the range or course. I added the checklists as notes on my phone for reference while practicing and it's magical.I recommend this book for ANYONE who golfs...from beginner to plus handicap. And if you want visuals, check out his instrgram feed. Thank you Dan!

Written by the wedge wizard himself…12/10 would recommend.
Dan is an wizard when he gets a wedge in his hand and this book does a great job of relaying THE BASICS of establishing a smart, consistent, and reliable short game. The terminology and explanations in the book are straight to the point and very understandable at first read. The images that accompany the text are also top tier quality to really highlight the key areas of importance when developing your green side chipping AS WELL AS the dreaded ‘feel’ shots on approach. I can’t recommend this book enough if you’re serious about trying to score, especially beginners. I’ve always take pride in my short game but this book really has made me feel like there is no spots on my local muni’s where I would be completely hopeless. That’s an incredible confidence boost to take into a round. Don’t focus on hitting the ball 300+ yards off the tee…focus on chipping/pitching because that’s where it can really make or break the card. Dan is the man if you are looking to develop your short game shots as well as your course management when it comes to different types of lies we deal with on the course throughout the year. TL;DR if you’re serious about golf and want to put that go-to never going to shank chip shot in the bag as well as the ‘im screwed’ bail out shot that ya might not need often but when you do, you’ll be glad you looked to Dan for the info, he’s the best in the business in my humble 16 handicap opinion. Cheers Dan, you’ve changed my game and so many others.

Short game instruction that works!
Short game has always been my biggest weakness. This book clearly and concisely gives technique instructions and explains the rationale behind the techniques. Results are not automatic, lots of practice is necessary. But paying attention to the techniques and putting in the practice time is giving results. As a Physical Therapist, I know how hard it is to instruct effectively. This is the best golf instruction book I have seen, by a wide margin.

Dan makes the short-game easy to grasp - Great Book!
This book is so well-written, making it easy to understand what Dan is trying to get across. He hits the essentials of his 3 main clubhead releases for the short game basics, communicating with simple words and supporting pictures.I’ve always struggled with the short shots around the green and discovered Dan through Instagram posts. When I started to see what he was teaching and how simple he made it, I decided to buy his book and am very happy I did.I practiced the two main releases (release-1 and 2) at home on a small mat and net I have in my basement but that only gave me the technique, not truly knowing how it would translate to actual play outdoors. Living in southern Ontario, I only just tried it out last week and boy did it help!! I had a couple of almost chip-ins with release-2 and they had some tour-level “hop & stop” like I’ve never done before. What a treat to see it in action. Even my longer pitch shots (30-50 yds) were looking so good, looking forward to this season of my “3-releases”!Thank you, Dan!!

A guide to mastering the short game
This book really is something special. Dan manages to explain the short game in a way that really changes the way you approach each shot. The "releases" is just a small part of the whole read, it also helps you understand when to play different shots as well as how to take the knowledge from the book and really learn it.I am far from mastering the content from the book but I am already seeing great improvements on the course. Really looking forward to this summer of practicing.
