Pleasantly Surprised
I've had this a year at the time of writing the review and I have to say it's better than I expected. I bought this so I could get my business online. The industrial unit I rent had no phone lines when I took it on and I needed access to the internet but didn't want to bear the cost of having a phone and broadband line installed then get locked into an expensive monthly contract. A relative told me a bout "mifi" so I thought for the price I'd take a risk and I'm so glad I did. It took a little bit of fiddling and swearing to set it up - I didn't think the instructions were too clear - but within an hour I had set up wifi in my unit to run a laptop, a Samsung Tablet with my retail P.O.S system on it and my mobile phone. I have a 4G giffgaff data sim card in it and the 4G signal on my phone (without using this device) sometimes struggles to reach 1 bar. Yet this little beauty boost the signal enough to stream videos on youtube on my laptop, stream music on the tablet and run the P.O.S system, watch vids on my phone all at the same time if I wanted to. It really is a wonderful bit of kit. The only downside to this is if there is ever a fault with the 4G transmitter then I have no internet - but hey, how many times does "landline" broadband break down? The only niggles I have with it is the battery life which is about 5-6 hours so I just leave the charger plugged in all the time and the fact I can't figure out how to connect the printer for a network. It is possible to get bigger models with a more powerful signal for use as a home broadband system and I may well buy one of those when this gives up the ghost but for now I'm really happy with it. If the battery life was capable of doing 8-10 hours continuous use it would have got 5 stars but overall for the price - highly recommended.

Would have been 5stars if not for the configuration
Purchase this as there was a lot of good feedback. I must admit it provides a better connection to the internet than I was expecting. But I am getting ahead of myself. The item is pretty straight forward to install the sim (I bought a cheap £2.50 sim from Sky so I could transfer my piggy bank data to it as I was needing more). When I installed the Sim, installed battery (exactley like a phone battery, which locks at one side and drops in). Things were looking good. The product description advised that there was no configuration required. Unfortunatley this was not the case for me. I was able to connect to the access point, but was not able to see the internet. After many reset'ings and many reading of the instructions booklet, I was not further forward. I tried accessing the company webpage to find that there is no support available for this product. So I had to do a bit of detective work and after several hours was able to figure out that the unit required a VPN name to be created. So I accessed the Accesspoint via the web browser on 192.168.8.1 and then entered the username and password (found on the instructions leaflet). From there I went to DIAL UP, Created a PROFILE NAME, then left the user name, and Password BLANK, added the VPN name which I was able to find on google. For Sky it was mobile.sky. And boom it was up and running. While this took me a while to figure out, I am only listing this here in the hope that the company change there instructions manual, update the webpage or it might just help anyone to work around the issue if they get it.I will finish by saying that this unit provides better internet than I have at home and I have Fibre! So far i have connected a couple of phones, couple of ipads and no issue with it. Don't be put off my review its well worth the money and so far is working great.

The best mobile wifi router I’ve ever used
This is a seriously impressive bit of a kit. I previously had an EE my wifi portable device which after a year of use started to drop its connection. After much frustration I decided to purchase a new portable mifi / mobile wifi device which is this Huwawei router. After a full day of use, I can attest that it’s performance blew me away:- Setup was easy. I was up and running in 60 seconds. Simply put your SIM card in, turn it on & connect to the mifi router. Done. It’s that simple.- Advanced device mgt. Here’s where I was blown away; you can download an app for the iPhone that will let you manage all aspects of the router remotely: see which devices are connected to it, limit bandwidth to users, kick users off, set alerts so you stay within your data cap, remotely reset the device if it crashes, etc. You can even check how much battery life is left before the next charge on the app. Wow. EE never had this kind of advanced but so easy to use management.- Connection speed. I have a 4G SIM card and the wifi speed is super fast. I could barely notice the difference between using high speed fibre optic wifi network (Virgin media) vs this huwawei router albeit on 2 concurrent devices. It may struggle if you have 10 users streaming at the same time but I suspect most people won’t fit such a use case.- Solid connection. This is the biggest surprise. Out of 6 hours of persistent use, I didn’t have a single connection drop. Amazing. I’ve never had a device manage this whether it was the EE device or iPhone tethering.- Battery life. I had this thing on in persistent use for 4+ hours without a problem. Impressive. In summary - if you travel a lot and need a high performance connection - this router is a seriously impressive bit of kit. For those who want extra assurance, you can also opt for the optional Amazon insurance (which I did) for a new replacement in event of breakdown. My only regret is not buying this device sooner. The EE mifi router is on its way into the bin.
