Facts only.
I think I’ve had 4 or 5 of these cases now so this is as fair a review as you’ll ever get.Just to clarify my first purchase of this case was in 2021 so roughly one a year.Pros -This case is solid. I work with heavy machinery internationally in some very rough environments where anything could happen and no phone is safe! This case gets a 5 star review just from amount of abuse it can take. Now the cons and the reasons I have had so many of these cases…Cons -If you get even a single drop of water in the ear hole or on the button the water and the water gets under the glass… Odds are you’re going to have to take the entire case apart to dry it. The drop gets stuck between the glass and spreads sometimes making you unable to type. The screws get loose over time just taking your phone in and out of your pocket. If you lose a screw the odds are you’re going to break the glass. The rubber plug can wear/tear off. Not the end of the world but it makes a very annoying and uncomfortable gap.Silent switch can get stuck or become unusable. Fine if you don’t mind your phone being on silent constantly.Screws are a small size hex key/Allen key… Case comes with a key but if you’re in a bind (particularly the water issue) and you don’t have the right size, you can find yourself in some trouble. - If this does happen to you (and it will), I have found that the points of a metal fork are the right size if you bend one of the tines. It’s heavy. The black finish scrapes off which I don’t mind but you might.____________Clearly more pros than cons but I keep coming back because of the sheer durability. It is a new year so I will be purchasing a new case.Hope this helps!

Ought to do the job
You're reading this because you want to protect your phone against a mishap, or you've had one and have had to shell out for a repair or replacement. This is probably going to do the job. Just got one for my daughter's replacement iPhone 8. Her last phone ended up as a MacGyver-esque marvel of jerry-rigging and bodging as I and she attempted to try and keep it functional as yet another piece fell away. The case turns the phone into the filling in a metal sandwich, with 6 hex screws likely to defeat any attempts at taking it out. Hard plastic forms the sides, whilst a silicone insert will absorb some of the energy if dropped.Access to buttons and switches is catered for, and the side switch has an ingenious solution. Charging port is covered but is easily reached if needed. Phone still charges wirelessly in the case, which even though advertised was a bit of a surprise given the sturdiness of the case.Touchscreen is less responsive probably because the protector is part of the case rather than affixed to the phone as other screen protectors tend to be these days. By less responsive, I mean it requires a firmer press than you might expect. Some might prefer to remove it and rely instead on a third party screen protector, but I'm content to wait and see how we get on with this. The case increase the dimensions of the phone. The iPhone 8 will now look/feel like an iPhone 8 Plus in your pocket. It's also noticeably heavy. Not sure on the actual weight, but you will definitely notice it and it may take some getting used to. On the plus side, if it means it falls out of your hand more often, it's more likely to survive the fall. And that, after all, is the reason you're here.Update: Well 6 months on and phone is still fully functional. The case has scratches on the metal plates at the top and bottom testifying that my daughter’s handling of it hasn’t improved. I replaced the screen on one of her old phones about 6 times, at around £20 a pop, so this case is already proving to be value for money. Notably, she hasn’t asked me to take it out, which indicates that there’s no problem with the day-to-day functionality. As for the screen protector, it’s still the original. She sends more messages in a week than I do in a year and hasn’t complained about the responsiveness of the screen, so I think it’s something you get used to quickly.
