Can be a pain to install, check wood thickness
I purchased both types of locks for kitchen cabinets and a drawer. Both sets require about an inch of wood to install the locking piece (either a piece of metal in a U on the cheap items or a spike on the expensive version). The actual RFID portion of the lock goes on the door as many pictures show. For my cabinets, I had to put in a piece of wood that was a shim for the locking piece. Once I did that, I mounted the lock to the door with the locking piece "locked" but hanging free. It was a matter of lining it all up and shooting the screws into the shim. The smaller screws for the locking piece aren't that great. These lock ok. The small screws would allow someone to pull a bit and they'll pop from the wood but it would be obvious something's been broken into. Comes with blue "keys".For the drawer piece (has a "spike" instead of a flat locking piece - I could have used either type but the drawer version looks more hefty and can be mounted 2 different ways), that was more of a pain to install because I couldn't just line the drawer up. LOTS of measuring and ensuring things lined up. Comes with yellow "keys", doesn't seem compatible with the blue-key model ID's. This one ultimately did not work for me due to drawer thickness. It says "1.5 inches max" but my 1.5 inch drawer just didn't work once I got everything lined up. I'm so glad I tested the lock through the wood before locking it... TEST your lock once mounted but before you close!Getting all the keys to pair to all the locks is a bit of a pain as well, but needed. You just have beeps to figure out when to pair. The last thing I don't really like is that when you open the lock, it has a beeping alarm to tell you it's been opened but it's not that loud. You have to wait the 4-5 seconds before you can close the lock again. You can't just reach in and grab something and close immediately.

Required some install savvy but works great!
The lock has worked great for us as part of an in-home escape room puzzle. As other reviewers have mentioned, a template for installation would be super helpful. Install took a little longer because we had to make some modifications for everything to fit our particular drawer. Also, fortunately, we are pretty handy and figured out everything we needed to do. Not sure the instructions would have been adequate for someone less mechanically inclined. That said, it works great and has been everyone's favorite puzzle in the room. We embedded one of the tags inside a stuffed animal (between the outer fabric and the stuffing, and when you rub the animal's tummy on the "X" we have marked on the drawer, presto! Everyone is delighted every time. :-)

Good with caveats
I installed it in a drawer. I had to open the mechanism and pull out the antenna and install in a routed space on the drawer face since the signal wouldn't go through two pieces of wood (the actual front side of the drawer frame and the drawer face). I didn't have any issues programming it. It's a little tricky to install so you just need to figure out your application. I don't like the fact that there's no "backup". Not sure that's even possible but if the batteries die or the electronics break you're going to be ripping the door open and damage something in the process. Let's hope it doesn't come to that ever.

Works awesome
Contrary to others concise diretions. Ez to program. Done in about 5 minutes. A note to all. Before installation program it. The sidevtobprogram the card is the same side as the programming button. Put latch in and program. When latch pops out you know you did it correct. Read instructions thourghly a few times. Then program it. Real quick shipping.

Works great!!
I built in a small hidden drawer and it works like magic through 1 1/2" of pine. It's a little hard to get located where you can 1) reach with the key 2) doesn't take up all the space and 3) can get to the batteries when required.I would really like one with power adapter and battery backup. But I knew what I was getting and it works exactly like they say it should!!

Not very difficult and the results are absolutely worth the price
Giving five stars even though a template would have been nice. Installation took some guessing and I had to move the latch a couple times. Not the handy-est person but even so it only took me about 15 minutes.I installed on a drawer and it works fantastically. The directions arent the easiest to understand but as long as you 1) program it first 2) use a pen to mark desired location of screws and 3) account for the size of the box it's pretty easy to get installed. The price is amazing and everything came neatly together, materials feel solid. Very satisfied.

If you're handy it's OK.
Ultimately worked as advertised. It took me a while to line up the latch and lock on a cabinet door. I think a template would have made this MUCH easier. The instructions are really pretty bad. They seem to be translated by someone who doesn't speak english well i.e. "fix the middle screw firstly" and "if have gap" & the pictures don't help much. As I said it does work as advertised but the poor instructions and lack of installation template certainly leave a bad first impression. Now let's just see how it holds up. So far it gets an OK.

difficult install and setup
Absolutely trash, the setup is not easy at all sometimes some cards register and sometimes they don't. Also the installation was a pain this is coming from a person who works on their own car and getting this should not be harder than replacing my brake pads. I tried to install it in a drawer and unless your drawers are see through or you can reach around the back you can never align it perfectly. More pain and trouble than necessary.
