It Could Happen To You

Can't say that I've seen a lot of movies with either Nicholas Cage or Bridget Fonda but this is one of my go to favorites when the world seems dark and crappy. There is no deep thinking involved and t's a joy to watch, Safe for the youngsters, too.

The audio and visuals of this movie are not synced, which makes the film miserable to watch. Plus, Amazon's cancellation/return policy doesn't allow returns after you start watching the movie -- but how could we know about this issue until after we started it??Do not purchase!

Imagine NY in a time where it was normal. I can't, except in this movie. Solid story, based on a true life event. I love the photography and story. Sweet.

Who doesn't love a great story with a great ending! Some decent acting here and a good message to boot. It's a feel good movie so if you are looking for something racy and sexy this isn't the movie for you but if you are a sucker for a good love story with a few slight twists then this is the movie for you. Decent cast as well.

Excellent cast (except for Rosie Perez who always comes across as phony) and fast pace keep this fun flick moving along. Cage is always good , no matter who he portrays and I'm surprised Fonda isn't seen in films more often. It's a fun movie that kind of falls apart at the end but well worth your time! 'It Could Happen To You' is a very entertainin film ghat could have/should have been better.

I love this movie it is a classic from the nineties the good old days when my children were born and life was simple. It would be nice if it happened in real life, but there are so many greedy and selfish people in the world. Well thank you Amazon.

Loveliest romantic movie. Buy a copy for your mobile device so you don’t leave home without it. If you’re feeling down, watch the interactions between the leading characters, and it will lift your spirit. If an “Yvonne” enters your life, surround her with much love and affection and hold on to her and don’t ever let go.

This movie is simply about two nice people who end up with crappy marriage partners and find each other. They fall in love and live happily ever after. Their "exes" get what they deserve. Hardly a complicated plot.After reading the good and bad reviews on this movie, it is disheartening to see how many people seem to think every movie must be neck deep in reality to be enjoyable. This movie is based on a true story - but it is only a movie! It's not a documentary nor intended to be. The critics must think that writers, directors, and actors are idiots because they can't see what's *wrong* with the script.It's the kind of movie you watch if you're a romantic or just want to believe the world isn't as crappy a place as it treated you today. So open a bottle of your favorite drink, take off your shoes, and sit back to see two good actors put a smile on your face.

I first saw this film years ago and decided to revisit it by purchasing the DVD.Surprisingly it hasn't really aged which is a good thing, probably because this basic storyline has been running in different guises since celluloid was first invented.It's well written and acted, and the chemistry between Cage and Fonda is excellent.I won't go over the storyline because you probably know it already, but basically you'll be rooting for the good guys even though you suspect from the beginning that they're bound to win out in the end anyway.The fun is in the journey.All in all, a pleasant way to spent a couple of hours.

Aren't we all just suckers for the nice little morality tale that puts us into that 'spirit-of-man' mood? And why not? Here is one such pleasant little movie, one that's good to curl up with in front of a glowing fire when it's blowing a winter hooligan outside. It's not on earth-shaker, nor does it pretend to be. In fact, the simple premise of the story - nice, put-upon cop splits his lottery winnings with nice, put-upon waitress - may be a slight stretch of reality too far, but hey, it's just a fable. And in fables, most everyone gets their just deserts, which is exactly what we find here: there are no surprises, we just enjoy the ride and want to push Charlie and Yvonne closer together - WE know they're made for each other! Nic Cage is rather good at this light 'everyman' sort of role and far more comfortable than more recent sci-fi or thrill-seeking outings, whilst Bridget Fonda makes a sweet partner as the warm-hearted, vulnerable waitress. You could say they both have little to do but be nice: that would be unkind since they have chemistry and work their corners convincingly, they get us rooting for them against hiss-boo lawyer Richard Jenkins and Charlie's shrewish wife Rosie Perez - along with her grating Latino-New York accent, the only jarring element in the picture is how Charlie came to be married to this harpy in the first place! However, Isaac Hayes' guardian angel in the form of a New York journalist ensures that triumph follows pathos and the glow - predictably - returns to our hearts, subtly swept along by the fairy dust of Carter Burwell's music score. It may sound trite but if you don't expect too much, the magic works well. This movie won't change your life, but it will probably brighten your day, and what's wrong with that?

Apart from the fact that Nic cage has nice eyes, this is a really good film to enjoy. You can just sit back, watch it and imagine yourself in the same situation.... Made rich!Nic cage plays a guy with a nasty wife. When they win the lottery she becomes obsessed with the money and he wants to use it to help people. Prior to winning the agrees with a waitress that if he wins then he'll split it with her. He does win and that's when things get complicated but it has a really nice flow anyway. You can't help but really hate the wife too as she's pretty unpleasant! Still that's the fun of it all!

OK, so I'm a sucker for a romcom and this one is just so good natured that to not like it would feel like kicking a puppy. Fonda is appealing and Cage is, well, pretty normal. It's a very pleasant way to pass the time, though unlikely to rock your world view. Had to get the US import be ause it's not on Region B yet, but this riuns fine on my UK machine.
