SimCity DS

The graphics were surpassingly good, think sim city 3000. In fact its a watered down crossover of sim 3000. My first time playing i hated it, the second time i played for about 2 hrs and had lots of fun.Then all of a sudden my city gets attacked by a giant ape. No big deal, I will just fix the mess... This is where the controls are BROKEN. Damaged building are the same colour as any public buildings in the build menu(hospitals, schools etc) so its almost impossible to rebuild your city with ease after your attacked by a giant ape. Also I wasnt prepared for when all my power stations blew up. All my buildings started flashing and for a few minutes I though it was a crazy glitch bc neither my advisor or my news ticker told me my power plants blew. However when I saw my population plummeting i managed to put that and the flashing buildings together and i was able to deduce that something was wrong with my power supply. Also i dont think there is anyway to select your hospitals, schools, powerplants etc to see at what capacity they are running out. So i just build and build public buildings and check my charts to make sure my levels arent dropping.The way you are petitioned gets old real fast. Your advisor lets you know a petitioner is waiting, you dont know who or what they are there for. So you go to your "office" and listen to them. Once you know who they are there is no way to back out, so you have to go through about 15 dialouge boxes before you say yes or no. If you say no, they leave angry. If you say yes you get to sign your name with your stylus saying you will do it, and if you build what they want they will only come back 3 minutes later asking for the same thing. IF they game let you know what the petitioner wanted before you had to waste precious seconds listening to them it would be far less frustratingBesides all these annoyances the game is enjoyable and you can only run your city into the ground if you try really really hard.

As an avid player of Sim City 2000, Sim City 3000 and Sim City 4, I was instantly drawn to own this for the DS. Many who review this game compare it to the PC games and point out its shortcomings and I will say this: its not as pretty as Sim City 4. But its not possible for it to be and that's just fine. Anyway, pros and cons:Pros:-Clear and informative tutorials that I recommend everyone use-even experienced players of the series-Its got some quirky parts to it - my political adviser is a robot, and I get to detonate fireworks and tap on Santa Claus to help deliver presents to my citizens for extra cash. Some serious gamers may not prefer this, but it breaks up the monotony for me-Plays fast: city grows very quickly and can be quite profitable early. I had a profitable budget and 30,000 person city in no time-Stylus usage fits the game very well and happily substitutes for the mouse-build and budget menu interface is surprisingly detailed for a portable game-usage of both top and bottom screen is perfect for a game like thisCons:-Touch screen/stylus is VERY touchy- one needs smooth hands and environment (not good in a moving car). Owners of the DS lite (like me) will find this annoying at times. DSi XL owners (like my roommate) will find this game much easier to play-To get monuments you have to trade with other players, which means someone else you know has to play and trade you for these things. I don't know any such people so I wont get to use them (roommate is not a fan) :(-moving around on the map is touchy and difficult at times.-limited zoom levels - wish it had more both close and farOverall I like this game despite its faults and recommend it to the SimCity fan with patience and an open mind.

The package arrived very quickly and was in great working order- my five star review is mainly geared towards the seller for providing fine service.The game as a whole is maybe a solid 3/5- it’s good to scratch a SimCity itch if you have nothing else to play it on, but there are better versions of the game out there. That being said it’s fairly forgiving and a good one for a newcomer to the series to hone their management skills with.

I like this one better than SimCity Creator. I go on a bit longer and am able to control the fires that arise. I use the ? to go over the areas that are constantly being attack by elements, just to see what I need to replace it with. I play for a while and really enjoy this game.

A fun and enjoyable game, I would have given it five stars except for one reason. You can only save one game at a time! I know that my kids would play it a little more often if it wasn't for that. Otherwise it's a lot of fun but could use a little improvement

this game was so boring and it took forever to get anywhere. you have to start off building a city and then you have to wait for that city to grow. and wait and wait and wait and thaeres not much you can do to speed up the time you pretty much can jsut set the game down and run a couple miles and come back and see if anything happend. not a very fun game

Well maybe not quite, this mini version plays like the SimCities of old but gets very annoying when people keep "barging into the mayor's office" to complain about this and that. Its almost every 10 minutes. Else this game plays like the full scale version (with a few bizzare and pointless mini-games)

It took me awhile to review this, and since then I have gotten simcity for the pc that came out 2013 and with the sorriness it has all the ones before it are pretty great.

Bought game for my 9yr old, that loves making maps and building cities. There was a presaged game on there that he opened and all the names and places was in racial and foul language dialogue… I know was a previously owned game but think it could of been turned on to delete saved game files.

Great quality, shipping time estimate was bang on. I didn’t realize it didn’t come with a case but for the price I paid it was excellent. Great communication with seller. Highly recommend.
