Dinky Toys: 374 (Shire Library)

one for nostalgia
these little books are great value, (Corgi being another), and just the right length to get all of the nostalgia value from when 'those of a certain age' still vividly remember playing with Dinky Toys for years on end! The great thing about Dinky was the absolute hammering you could give them under all play conditions... particularly recalling having a soil patch in the garden where a barren landscape of roadways, shell holes and earth bridges was created for the army trucks to crash over and into. The advantage over Corgi was that Dinky didn't have windows, which always got scratched or cracked with play, and as kids when did reality ever get in the way of imagination. Such musings indicate the ability of this book to bring back happy memories of the Mighty Antar lumbering on its way carrying the Centurian Tank to yet another battle withe the worms and beetles in the garden. Great book with informative text of the history and ultimate demise of the brand. Best of course are the photos of the toys themselves... which has reminded me, I do still have the Antar and the, and also the,.... in a box in the garage... excellent stuff !

Disappointing.
More like a pamphlet than a book. Expected more information & illustrations. Not worth the money.

book for collectors
Great book for collectors ,whether serious or casual . Expands knowledge on dinky toys , its helpful to have just information on one model maker ,instead of going through lots of different books to find same information.
