Great product, well made and stable.
My first ever review on Amazon,Since it is a great product I thought to give it a review.Basically, it works flawlessly, I have inserted 2 x m.2 Crucial 525 GB to it as SPAN and I have them both alongside as two different partitions. it is quite stable. I have done a test by reading and writing to both drives simultaneously and there was zero speed or stability issue. There are configurations on the board itself. 3 switches that give you 4 options to have Performance, Mirror, Span or separate drives which are great to have. The product itself is well made and sturdy. Finally, I am quite happy with this product and it is a great value for money as I have received those two m.2 for free, it is like having 1 tb of SSD for such a great value.

Excellent and well made product
A well designed product that makes it very easy and simple to to fit a 2.5 inch HDD/SSD into a 3.5 inch bay.

Appearance flaws, then lots of fitting issues and finally it stops PC booting - a piece of junk
On paper and based on other reviews this looked a really good product but my experience has proved otherwise and led me from 4 to 3 to 2 to 1 star.First star gone - nicely made unit but spoilt by the dumb red metallic paint used for the release knob on the front that is unlikely to match anything else on your PC. Additionally the aluminium top layer of the unit is carried on to the front fascia which otherwise is all black (apart from the dumb red release catch). The unit was also a little undersized leaving a gap in the open aperture of both the different 5.25 inch bay adapters I tried with the unit.Second star gone - the holes on this enclosure do not line up with either of the Startech 5.25 drive bay adapter that I bought. You can only match two holes at best and the screws supplied with the 2.5 to 3.5 adapter are useless in the Startech 3.5 to 5.25 adapter. You can line up four holes but only if the aluminium enclosure is recessed into the PC as opposed to being flush with the fasica. The dumbos at startech have designed this to have the same fixing holes as a normal 3.5 hard drive - which would be recessed. This is meant to be accessed from the front of the PC which for most people will mean it goes in a 5.25 bay not a 3.5 bay. Startech have not provided any solution for this.Third star gone - I bought the Akasa 3.5 to 5.25 adapter - the Stargate 2.5 to 3.5 enclosure fitted far more snugly in this than Startech's own product but still only 2 out of 4 fitting screws would match up.Fourth Star gone - I managed to install Windows 10 on a Sandisk SDD drive installed in this unit but on the first restart the PC would not boot/went into recovery mode. Magically taking the same SDD drive and linking it direct to motherboard the PC would boot.So I have gone from quite liking something to hating it - appearance flaws, then lots of fitting issues and finally it stopped the PC booting - AVOIDThird star gone

Nearly great
I had initial difficulty getting the drive to display within Windows when in RAID 0 but after half a dozen attempts I finally got it working and was able to run some benchmarks using CrystalDiskMark. I didn't see much of a difference in any speeds when the adapter was in RAID 0 or SPAN mode.I have 4 Crucial MX500's in total, 2 are M.2 SATA SSDs and the other 2 are 2.5" SATA SSDs. I run the 2.5" drives in RAID 0 and the RAID volume operates as my games drive. I cloned this to the adapter running in RAID 0 so logically speaking they should be the same drives.Testing within CrystalDiskMark showed a massive difference in read/write speeds, whether this is down to the differences in RAID controllers I'm not so sure.My only other gripe with this is that it runs hot when idling (51C) and even hotter when performing writes (97C). I thought this might be down to the metal housing of the adapter so I unscrewed the metal panel and ran the same tests but didn't see that much of a difference in temperatures. The individual drives themselves do not run this hot.I didn't buy this adapter for the speeds but simply to combine 2 M.2 SATA SSDs I had lying around, and for this purpose it performs really well. Ultimately for my games drive I wouldn't see any noticeable differences (loading screens on games, textures loading, etc) but I thought it was worth mentioning in case anyone was buying this to leverage the performance of RAID 0.EDIT 08/06/2020: After faithfully serving me since October 2018 the SATA data ribbon connector on the adapter end has snapped off leaving some exposed pins and as such I can't get it to work via a SATA cable. I am however having luck getting the drive to work with a USB 3.0 to SATA adapter if I push the drive (this adapter) in at a certain angle.

does as it should
nice little converter, but needs the needs the bigger one that that fits into the 5.5" bay that hold the 3.5"hdd then it kills 2 birds with 1 stone

JBOD doesn't work
JBOD requires your mother board to support Sata PM which it doesn't say anywhere in the item details. I only found this out after searching the startech site wondering why it wasn't working. The both my 1tb m.2 Sata drives work find when set into raid mode, in the system it shows up as a single 2tb drive. Not ideal as data recovery will be a ball bag if it goes wrong.

Works great! But don't expect extreme speeds
Obviously limited by SATA speeds but works straight out the box. Can't complain, doesn't get too hot either, unsure if the other reviewers have a different batch.Perhaps a little pricey, but has lasted well in my system the last few months with 24/7 usage.

Just what I needed
RAID switches worked seamlessly when testing on my computer. I used this to combine a 2TB m.2 & 1TB m.2, for a total of 3TB, to use as my Xbox One X internal drive and it works flawlessly.

Easy to use
If you have a 3.5" adapter opening and would like to use a 2.5" drive this converter works very well.

Dobra do zastosowań w terminalach.
Użylem do systemu plików zfs, jako mirror. Dobrze sprawdza się w terminalach Dell Wyse ZX0 lub podobnych. Zastosowanie, raczej tylko dla linuxa.
