Perixx PERIBOARD-512B Wired Ergonomic Keyboard - Split Keyboard, Wrist Rest, Natural Typing - Wired USB Connectivity - US English - Black

I got to tell ya, I really like this keyboard. I'm surprised to find that it's a frequently returned item, since I like mine. I like the way it clicks when I press the keys. I like the position of my hands and find it relaxing. I like the ease of clicking the keys, the light touch; I don't feel I have to press hard to click the keys. I bought this keyboard for work, and now I'm thinking of buying another for at home. But I won't, because I made a vow to myself to only buy what I need. But I am very happy with this keyboard. I hope it lasts a long time.

Been using wave, split keyboard style keyboards for maybe decades. Forget when I got my first Microslop Natural Keyboard Elite but still have three PS2 ones that are working fine. The key strokes are pretty long on those so was looking for maybe a mechanical switch board and would have spent up to $200.00 to get one that was a split design and a waive, like this one. But guess what? Couldn't find one at any price. Was going to go with the new Microslop wired ones, not a fan of baby sitting dongles and batteries, for roughly twice the price of this one, but saw some scary reviews. You don't know if they are for real or just someone with a personal problem. Then saw some good reviews for this one and for the price, was thinking it has to beat the stock Dell sub $20.00, maybe sub $10.00 even, keyboard that was given to me by my work. So actually ordered 3 of these thinking what the heck, I can send them back if they blow, and then I can keep them and happy day for me if they are OK or better. Happy Day! They are better! One review stated that they feel cheap. They weigh just about exactly the same as my MS boards are almost exactly the same size and shape. Just so I could say I did it, I torqued them from the ends. My natural 190 lb frame could likely snap it but they are just about as solid as the my old MS boards: talking about the range of a few pounds of pressure difference nothing major. That is, if all you want to to is type on them, thinking that they are plenty solid enough to last for years. When I checked all three boards, one had a slight separation between the top part and the bottom on the underside of board where you can't see it while using it on the left hand side, [the top and bottom are screwed together much like a laptop computer is] but again, very minor, maybe .005 - .010 of an inch for about 3 inches. Think maybe you could work a match book cover into it if you spent the time and tried hard. This turned out to be a result of the twist I gave them as the top and bottom parts are "keyed" and the male tab came out of its slot. A small push and it was back in place. The other two were perfect and don't see how that is going to make any difference anyway. They are well built and the key action is shorter than the old boards. It uses almost exactly the same layout as the old boards with the arrow keys being closer to the delete buttons. All this works for me. Can type faster, but for me that's maybe 80 - 90 wpm in bursts. If you want the worlds fastest keyboard, them maybe go with a mechanical switch type. For me, this is a very satisfying keyboard. The buttons on the top also work with Linux a bit so another plus if you too use multiple operating systems with the same keyboards. Ordered two more. These are great and for the price I was willing to pay for one mechanical switch board, I have 5 of these. I have been using one of these daily at work 8 hours a day for months now and no issues.

I, like many others I can see in the reviews, bought this to replace an aging Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 keyboard that is sadly no longer manufactured. So that is the basis of my comparison here. I've used it for a full work day so far and it works well. Overall, it is a great ergonomic keyboard, especially for the price (I bought it on Prime Day for around $33!). Now, onto the comparison details for those interested. As you can see in my pics, my old MNE keyboard is very old and worn and dirty, lol...well loved and used. I even had to replace most of the worn off letter keys with stickers which worked well for a while. One of the pics has different color lines on it. Yellow = The keys that are not on the Perixx keyboard that I am sad about. The Perixx board has NO programmable keys! I will miss that. Other keys I will miss are the dedicated calculator button and the forward/back buttons. Green = Keys the new board doesn't have that I won't miss/never used. Also keys on the new Perixx board I will NEVER use. That row of silver buttons at the top is useless to me. I really wish those were programmable, I would have given 5 stars for that. Pink = There is no F-lock key and I'm not sure yet if that will be a problem, but I think not. Blue = As others have stated, the key arrangement in this area is odd and tight and will take some getting used to. But it's not a dealbreaker to me. It's more important that the keys exist (because they don't on some other ergo boards). The shape of some of the keys on the ends (shift, ctrl, space bar) will take a little getting used to as well, but it's only been a day, I think it won't be a problem. One thing I am kind of happy about is that the palm rest on the Perixx is the same material. That soft stuff on the MNE board was nice for about a year then rapidly disintegrated and I had to crochet a little cover to keep the black stuff off my hands. The Perixx board is a good, responsive, full-keyed ergo board and I hope it lasts several years.

Always had a ergonomic keyboard. My prior Microsoft last 7 years until I got careless with a soda so it had to be replaced. I found this one that was very similar and had the raised keys. I really like it and it was of exceptional value. You will not be sorry if you order it.

Long review ahead: short version, just buy it and try it. You won't be returning it, trust me! This is not only an absolutely fantastic SPLIT style keyboard, but also one of the best in terms of key/tactile feel I've ever owned. I've tried all the usual mechanical keyboards, blue & brown switches (way overrated IMO) along with the legendary buckling spring switches. Yes, this is a rubber dome keyboard, BUT, it feels to me anyhow like a quiet and lighter touch buckling spring keyboard (think IBM Model M) without all the racket a buckling spring or cherry blue switch (or even brown) keyboard can make. It has a nice tactile snap to the keys and sounds similar to a Topre keyboard (youtube it) and has a nice muffled "thock" type sound, no clacky-ness at all. Even the larger stabilized keys are mostly quiet, and the one or two that aren't can be made quiet by adding a little white grease lube (search amzn for elite keyboards grease) to the metal stabilizer underneath the key after carefully removing it with a keycap puller or very carefully prying off. This keyboard has a little shorter key travel distance than a full key height keyboard; about 80%, but is just enough shorter that it is actually a better travel distance IMO and allows for a very quick and light touch to the keys, but still gives that satisfying "press" you get on a full travel keyboard. As noted above, the key feel is light, but not too light and has a nice tactile snap (think buckling spring) that you will not get with the overrated mx brown style switch. The split of the board is perfect and puts your hands, arms and shoulders in a very natural position for typing, and also has a full size wrist rest to place the palms of your hands when not actively typing. One thing some folks may complain about is the arrow/home key cluster; do not let that deter you from trying this board. I actually prefer this layout as it allows your trackball (or mouse) to come in closer to your hands than if they used the standard ibm layout. Once you get used to the more condensed layout of the arrow keys and home/end/delete cluster, you'll realize it is very very logically laid out and actually makes more sense. So IMO I believe it's truly a better layout than the older IBM format. Your mileage may vary. I've been using split keyboards since the original MS one came out in the late 90's and this Perixx split keyboard is very similar to the old MS elite version, but much better. The key feel and overall construction along with a split spacebar make THIS keyboard the best split keyboard you can buy, not to mention it's an incredible value also. I pair this board with a Logitech M570 trackball and it's a match made in heaven. My hands and wrists never experience pain and typing on this board is so comfortable and the muted/quiet, light snappy tactile feedback is incredible. I have never enjoyed a keyboard more than this one. It hits ALL the checkboxes. I'd happily pay 2-3 times what they charge for it also. And have for other boards that couldn't hold a candle to this one. I really hesitated to buy this keyboard because I've always used the Microsoft ergonomic keyboard. But the price difference is astounding, so I went ahead and gave it a shot. I love it! It works every bit as well as the other one, and it is so much less expensive.

Keys are mostly good but just a little funky. Buttons look cheap and things are in differ places than I’m accustomed. Not bad for the price but I would not buy again.

Comfortable positioning of the keys. It has reduced stress on my wrists. Sturdy build. Easy plug and play. Keys are a little loud.

Overall the keyboard is good BUT you need to get used to the placement of the arrow keys and Home, End, Delete etc. Because they are not located as usual and it is quite hard to use them blindly/automatically.

I've migrated to this keyboard when my Microsoft Scuplt from 2016 started having issues (had a fraying palm rest and left cursor key did not work 70% of time). This keyboard is pretty similar to Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000, and has a very close resemblance of Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite. Of course it's all subjective when it comes to keyboards, but here are my pros and cons: PROS: (1) I think this is one of the best keyboards on the market of Ergonomic keyboards, and given it's price - I think it might be the best, especially if you're looking for a Microsoft Natural Keyboard replacement. (2) The keys stiffness is just right, and have a comparable feeling to Natural Ergonomic Kbd 4000. (3) Keys don't bind, smooth and a comfortable to touch-type. (4) it has just enough multimedia keys, the assortment is rather conventional, I mean who uses WWW key in 2025? But it has volume control and mute buttons, which is great. (5) It is a full size keyboard with proper key travel and the distance between keys - there were no trade offs in keys size and location in the main cluster. (6) It is well built, and is pretty stable on the desk. CONS: (1) I miss a front raiser, I had to get familiar with the new palm position. (2) the cluster of movement and cursor keys is mangled, but if you've used Natural Keyboard Elite in 1998, I guess you'll feel "at home" (3) the Num/Caps/Scroll lock lights are awkwardly directed, so you'd have to lean over the keyboard to check which one is lit. If you're still thinking whether to buy it or not - just go for it.

Vintage PS/2 Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboards have been my daily drivers for over 30 years. If you're looking to replace a vintage Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite (E06401COMB) or the even older Microsoft Natural Keyboard 59758/E03786USDSP then this has the same key layout as the former and is very similar to the latter. You will feel immediately at home. In contrast, before buying this Perixx, in October 2023 I purchased the then-current replacement Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard LXM-00001. Its layout is frustratingly near that of the vintage keyboards. It was close enough that it lured me into using muscle memory but I was getting many errors, and started to doubt my ability to touch type. For example: - Subtly different key locations e.g. on the new LXM the "T" key is under the "6", on the vintage ones between "5" and "6" - Curved (rather than straight) key rows - Lack of space between the top row number keys and the "F" keys - Left side F keys go F1 - F6 instead of F1 - F5 I have a few minor quibbles with the Perixx PERIBOARD-512: 1. The Num Lock/Caps Lock/Scroll Lock indicator LEDs are poorly angled and can only be clearly seen when looking straight down on the keyboard. If you are in a normal typing position in front of it they're hard to tell if on or off, and they tend to "bleed" into one another. For example, if Num Lock is lit, Caps Lock appears mostly lit as well. 2. On my unit the right Shift key needs to be depressed further than normal to activate. I find when typing capital "A", "S", "D", "F" etc. I get a lot of lower case instead. I have to press the right shift extra firmly or slightly delay hitting the other key to be sure I'm getting upper case 3. The shortcut/media buttons across the top are welcome but on my unit the "WWW" button is not properly debounced. Even with a crisp press I often get 2 browser instances started rather than just one when pressing this button
