Psyllium helps you get close to the recommended daily levels for fibre
I placed my order of Psyllium Husks on Sunday 30th August with next day delivery. After waiting four days and not receiving anything, I contacted Amazon Customer Services who re-ordered it. I was assured that it would arrive the next day. It did not arrive the next day, two days after it was suppose to be delivered, I contacted Customer Services again, who re-ordered it again. I was assured that it would arrive the next day, by this time I was finding it difficult to believe whether it would be delivered at all. It finally arrived eight days after it was originally ordered.I have given 5 stars for the Psyllium Husks because it is a very good product which I am very familiar with, having used it over the years. There are two types of fibre, Soluble fibre and Insoluble fibre.Soluble fibre is found in cucumbers, blueberries, beans, and nuts, dissolves into a gel-like texture, helps to slow down your digestion. This helps you to feel full longer and is one reason why fibre helps with weight control.Insoluble fibre, found in foods like dark green leafy vegetables, green beans, celery, and carrots, does not dissolve at all and helps add bulk to your stool. This helps food to move through your digestive tract more quickly for healthy elimination. Many whole foods, especially fruits and vegetables, naturally contain both soluble and insoluble fibre. Psyllium contains both soluble and insoluble fibre. There’s no shortage of research showing how fibre boosts your health. Some of its top potential benefits include: heart health, weight control, blood sugar support, healthy digestion, skin health and more.If you’re looking for a healthy way to supplement your fibre intake, organic whole husk psyllium is indeed a simple, cost-effective way to do it.Ironically, people with leaky gut and other chronic digestive problems would be wise to follow a very low-fibre diet temporarily, until their digestive issues clear up. This is because if your bowel is predominantly dominated by pathogenic microbes, pathogenic microbes will feed on fibre and proliferate, making whatever health problems you have worse.

Solved my digestive issues! (See the end of the review for my special tip.)
I'm an avid weightlifter, and over the past few months I've been putting on some size. In order to gain muscle, you need to eat a lot of food (several hundred grams of protein a day). Well, after a couple of weeks, I started feeling extremely blocked up. I felt uncomfortable and bloated for most of the day. I started Googling solutions to this problem, and eventually found out about Psyllium Husks. I started with a tea spoon a day, and then moved up to two tea spoons a day. Now? No problems whatsoever! I did have one detox day, but since then I have gone right back to my old diet. With the addition of the Psyllium Husks, I'm feeling good again! The fiber content really, really helps in keeping things moving along.Oh, and here's some quick advice. As the husks themselves are unspeakably vile, you need to get creative about how you consume them. I tried downing them with water initially, but the taste and texture were horrendous. Then I tried mixing it in with food, but it ruined the food. The answer? Mix it with a fruit juice (I prefer apple or orange). The sharp taste of the juice will override the awful taste of the husks, and the viscosity of the liquid will disguise the gross texture. Hope that helps!

Huge bag!
I just switched to this brand to save money but I'm not entirely happy. Basically the ingredients are not 'finely' milled', like the last packet I bought, so that means you receive a whopping great bag of the stuff and then have to worry about where (on earth) to store it? But saying all of that, the price is virtually half of what I used to pay, so I'll have to wear it.On the topic of companion products to take with pro-biotics etc. I do three things when I take my freshly squeezed juice.First I add a teaspoon of this. Then I add 2 teaspoons of flax seeds (cold pressed). Then I add a teaspoon of oatmeal (essential pre-biotic).Of course by then you have to drink it up very fast or else the mixture turns very quickly into a solid mass of gloop.*Pinhead oatmeal is essential soluble fibre to provide a basis on which pro-biotic bacteria can obtain a foothold, otherwise they just wash out of you.Update 23/08/14:I find this product to be not as glutinous as the finely-milled variety I was ordering before. I'm using 2 teaspoons now, where I was using one teaspoon of the other type.Update 09/09/14This product is very glutinous after all, and I'm going to keep buying it because it works out very economical. We've found adding it to pinhead oat meal and flax seeds in juice, really reduces abdominal bloating.

Great value detox aid
fantastic value good quality and last for ages will buy again when finally run out. I use mine in smoothies and with ginger and apple juice to help detox and keep system clear. This is a cost effective way of doing that. I cannot afford all the expensive colon cleanse kits which are out there this combined with cleansing juices and plenty of water is a handy substitute for those on a budget who are attempting to be healthy and also for anyone wanting to detox without spending an absolute fortune
