Hannibal [DVD]

tedious
This movie hardly has any atmosphere, like the first one did. It just looks like another crime, gangland movie- a bit dull, not much of a storyline, with tasteless random violence. And Jillian Moore, is so misplaced here. She was not right for the part. Her acting and character development is flat. She sounds like she's just reading the lines and can't even get the accent right. And even it seems like a completely different character. She's totally unbelievable. I am sorry, after what Jodie Foster gave us for Clarice, which had so much depth, whom we could relate to and so much more, how can we be happy with what we got here with Clarice. Nothing really to remember by. Didn't do this movie justice from the first one....I couldn't finish watching....The especially ridiculous part when that character skins off his face, because Lector told him to, without any resistance, oh please...silly plot like this doesn't help, already bad acting

Brutal and operatic
Sadistic serial killer Hannibal Lector is enjoying life on the run in florence until FBI agent Clarice Starling is disgraced and bought to the attention of a wealthy victim who is reclusive and vengeful, this movie is the best in the franchise, Hopkins best performance of Lector and Gary Oldman is brilliant as Verger, who is even more creepy than Hannibal, 5 out of 5, the atmosphere is top notch, a very sadistic and moving film.

BRILLIANT
In my opinion the best Lecter film made so far. Anthony Hopkins turns in a brilliant performance charming and sinister all in an instant. He is ably supported by Julianne Moore; Ray Liotta; Giancarlo Giannini and Gary Oldman (who's Mason Verger is even more sinister than Lecter.) Beautifully filmed in Florence and with an exquisite soundtrack. Ridley Scott at his best.

Very slow to get started... if it ever does
It is very slow at the beginning, so much so I turned it off after 45 minutes.

They changed the ending
Well it's watchable, but why did they change the brilliant but controversial ending? That was what made the book astonishing.

Poor character writing
Good movie but lacks tge deoth in the connection between the two leads that Silence of the Lambs had woth Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster. Julianne Moore is a great actress but with the transition to her the writers seem to have a mire physocal generic FBI agent in comparison to the strong independent profiler trying to prove herself in the original.
