Mark Twain is a joy to read in his creative stories he has in this book. They are funny and entertaining and a good read for high schoolers to understand the culture of the country over 100 years ago. I recommend this book to any teen or adult who likes a good story. Reads fast too.

In the past I had read very few short stories by the American legendary Mark Twain, even though I was familiar with his many humorous quotes. This collection of eight stories is a pure joy to read. His unique insight into people makes his stories come alive. I also loved his reflection of his early days of his journalism career. He always sees the humor and satire in the tales he spins, taking the reader along for the ride.The stores include the following: The Notorious jumping frog of Calaveras County, Journalism in Tennessee, About barbars, A literary nighmare, the stolen white elephant, The private history of a compaign that failed, Fenimore Cooper's leterary offences and How to tell a story. Lost interest after the 1st story. Too many details. Stick to his full length stories.

Bought this to go w an English and History unit I’m teaching next year. My teen decided to read a good chunk of it this summer! Mark Twain is timeless!

Need something for a “reading”.Thought this would be a good place to find some samples.Didn’t find what I was looking for, but will keep it in my library.

There will never be another Twain. While in some cases, it is a bit more challenging to relate to the subject matter, such as in the story of the Civil War "soldiers" or the searing criticism of James Fenimore Cooper (but still worth a chuckle or two), for the most part Twain's stories are timeless and his works will always stand against the great writers of any age. Makes me proud to be an American.

This is good collection of Twain's short stories. One of the most hilarious stories ever written is "The Stolen White Elephant" and is a must read for anyone who has at one time or another felt frustrated with bureaucracy, stupidity, incompetence ...

I really enjoyed this book.
