Back last September my wife and I were attacked by a Home Invader. After rendering me unconscious with a shovel, he ran upstairs to deal with my wife. He grabbed her and began trying to throw her down the stairs from our second story apartment. she tried to grab a knife to defend herself but could only reach a plastic ladle which did nothing to deter him. Her cries for help brought the neighbors and calls to 911 which finally caused the assailant to flee. Officers arrived quickly and the neighbors who had followed the man quickly pointed him out and he was quickly arrested. My wife and I were treated at the scene and I was transported to the hospital.When I was able to return home and heard my wife's side of the story, I went onto Amazon and found this ladle and my wife placed with the other kitchen implements. while she may never use it for cooking, she will hopefully never have to defend herself again with a plastic kitchen implement. In these troubled times we need to be ready to defend ourselves should it become necessary. They also make wonderful house warming gifts for your friends.

It's pretty uncomfortable to hold with your bare hands, and it began to rust much more quickly than other iron tools I've used, but it did the job just fine. Perfect for melting metals like bismuth and aluminum.

Great service and quick shipping, but not the greatest quality casting. It is very crudely finished, but after a couple hours of work filing and cleaning I think it will become a favorite tool.
