Q: Is there a min/max bar gap for which this item is suitable?

Not sure Siobhan I had mine in a 100x100 m indoor cage but not sure what bar gap is. The screws from shelf fit well in bar gap, it's not tonight. Sorry I can't be of more help they are great accessories

Q: Can you install this on the left hand side corner?

Any corner providing there's bars, it has bolt in the wood, comes with washers and wing nuts to go out side the cage

Q: Will this fit dwarf hamster cage bars, i.e. 7mm spacing between bars?

Yes. It’s only a screw that goes through the actual bars and a nut tightens it on the outside.
