Not the same as rice but a perfect alternative
Bit of background info... I usually spend about 2 months a year 'cuttting'. I've always had success from cutting carbs but I find this very difficult as I'm not a big fan of vegetables. I came ac cross this in the supermarket along with the noodle version and gave this a try.First off the smell... It is really disgusting. Almost a plasticy fishy smell. It really hits you when you open the pack and I can see that some may not be able to get past this. Whilst you can wash off the worst of the smell it does remain a little - I usually wash a portion of the rice in the morning to take to work and when I get to work and open the container I can smell it. The rice has no taste at all and absorbs the flavour of whatever you mix it with well. I have also made egg fried 'rice' with it which comes out well. The texture is a little more rubbery than ordinary rice but not noticeably so. As I mentioned before I've tried the noodles but find the texture of these too chewy. My wife tried the rice but really didn't like it. She said she didn't like the texture and that it made her stomach feel strange. Not sure if this was psychosomatic although I've seen reports of others finding the same so maybe the ingredients in it don;t agree with everyone's digestion?!Overall I'm really happy I've found this product and will keep using it when cutting.Pros:-Low amount of calories-Easy to prepare-Similar texture to normal rice-No taste-Takes on the flavour of other ingredientsCons-Initial smell is bad-May not agree with everyone's digestive system.

Good low carb swap for noodles and spaghetti
On a low carb diet and these are a great alternative to wheat based high carb pasta and noodles.

Very intense experience, not for repeating.
I made the mistake of buying a few packets to help on my diet, I should have tried one and waited. Opening and cooking was fine, bit of an off putting smell but otherwise fine, eating them, the texture was not fantastic, very chewy and almost sticky but okay taste wise with sauce. What really got me giving the 1 star is the intense stomach pains I was woken up by in the night. I genuinely considered calling 111 thinking that my stomach is about to explode. Now I have another 5 packs and a pack of the rice in my cupboard and no idea what to do about them.

It's alright for keto dieters
It is probably tastless and the texture is weird compared to conventional pasta noodles. But the calorie in this is almost zero. It's a very useful option for me as I am on Keto diet at the moment. Surprisingly filling, too. I tend to cook it with Tomato chilie pesto with some tuna and extra virgin oliver oil. Plenty of garlic cloves too. Then the taste isn't too bad!

Too rubbery for sub as 'rice'
As a low carb eater I gave up pasta and rice which were my two favoraite staples. After a while, you learn to live without them and of course, doing low carb right, you no longer crave them.Yet some foods just work best with pasta or rice, like many Indian, Italian, Thai, Chinese or Mexican dishes.I am a total convert to the noodles. It's been so long since I had pasta that I cant fully recall their texture, but I do know it's not like the noodles. But I think of them as Asian noodles rather than pasta, although I use them in all sorts of dishes. So great to have that sort of food alongside sauces especially.I tell you this so that you know I'm open to 'odd' textures and do enjoy their other product. However, the rice doesn't fully work for me. It's fine, it's a welcome difference to my meals, but it's just too rubbery as 'rice'.I also found I had to rinse the rice due to a bit of a smell, whereas the noodles are scentless (maybe they changed their recipe on those because old reviews mention a stink). A small inconvenience if it was a great rice alternative but it isn't for me.I'll keep it in the pantry for the very occassional meal (like curries)

Lifesaver for keto
These have been an absolute lifesaver for me on a low cal keto diet. They stink when you open them, I rinse them very well in a sieve before I heat them. I then drain them again because after the first heat they seem to release a fair bit of liquid. Then I use them in whatever I’m cooking. You need a nice strong sauce for them to soak up . I use a packet of miso often ( no water added) and that works so well with a bit of sesame oil. They really fill you up and help with fibre intake; which can be a problem on keto. They have a firm, jelly consistency which can take some getting used to. Overall if you remove most of your expectations of them being ‘noodle like’ and understand they are noodle in name only, you won’t be disappointed. 100% recommend for low cal keto.
