This does contain bleach which I wasn't aware of I thought it was just a hair dye like garniers lightener that had other ingredients in it to lighten so bear that in mind. Like any hair product this is damaging to the hair, my hair wasn't in great condition afterwards but it never is after colouring or lightening, I wouldn't say this damaged my hair any more than what others have though, I used the L7 this time but have used the L9 before when trying to lighten from a darker colour and that damaged it alot more but if you are o only needing it once or twice you can feel treat it afterwards for a while and the hair does get better, my hair was damaged before hand so bear that in mind too, if you have pretty healthy hair once or twice using this won't damage your hair permanently. I had to use twice over a period of two weeks as the first time it didn't lift to yellow blonde it left me with orange roots (with the L7) I started with dark blonde. All of these lift my hair if lifted enough to a very yellow blonde though, using the blue shampoo that comes with it makes no difference to the yellow in my opinion but blue toner is usually used to counteract orange, so i used purple shampoo to try and counteract the yellow afterwards too with no joy, I have nailed it though if I need to use it in future so my advice would be once you have lifted it you should buy a hair dye to go on top of it, I put it on straight afterwards which isn't wise but it worked, an ash blonde if blondes your goal would be best to counteract the brassiness or yellow. Overall this achieves what you need if you can't afford to go to a hair dresser, I don't think the L9 would lift the darkest of colours still though, it would lighten it considerably but if wanting a very light blonde you would probably have to using a colour stripper first which are actually really really good in my opinion, again not great for your hair but if your having a disaster and can't afford the hairdressers its worth doing. This took my hair from a mix of dark brunette, dark purples and pink highlights to literally 99% match to the box!If you look at the photo I’ve held the box next to my hair straight after dyeing it and blow/drying. I was so impressed! It really gives you a lovely shade of blonde.The other thing I want to rave about is how soft my hair is (and still is weeks later). A lot of blonde and hairdresser bleaching in the past left my hair dry, breaking off and always getting into knots. Not this!I don’t use expensive shampoos - I swap between Herbal Essences Oil of Morocco (blue bottles) and Fudge pump pack. My hair is soft if I let it dry naturally into my natural waves or if I blow dry and straighten. Shiny too which is hard to get on a lot of blonde tones.I do use a pure keratin serum just on the ends which seals it lovely. My hair was a state of dark colours and the worst hair dye job I’d ever had in 25 years at a salon and I was distressed. This rescued me!I use a toner shampoo on it about once a week but that’s just my preference. I also sometimes now add in a temporary wash-out pale pink to give an ombré or highlights effect.I’ve achieved blonde better with this product over ANY salon job going from darker tones in 29 years of changing hair colours. At some salons they had to have me in twice to lift me from brunette and left my hair in awful condition.I have medium length hair and needed two boxes. You may need three if your hair is long. I prefer to have more so I can really ensure good coverage.I honestly wasn’t sure this would work but twice now I’ve used it to go from dark to blonde perfectly.I can’t recommend this highly enough. It’s a brilliant product at a fraction of salon prices. A top salon said I could not go from my mess of brunette, purple and hot pink to pure blonde. No chance they said. I went back and showed them the results.*Crickets Chirping* was the impact. They could not believe how soft and shiny my hair was also.Go for it!
