France/Norway: France's Last Liner/Norway's First Mega Cruise Ship

Norway
Another Splendid Book
The cover illustration alone is worth getting this book, but additionally one gets another great book on the last liner of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique. This is comparably as good if not nicer than his other book, "Normandie: France's Legendary Art Deco Ocean Liner", published 3 years ago. Each page is eloquently written in Maxtone-Graham's unique style befitting a book of this nature. The photographs are wonderful and thoughtfully placed, including many I hadn't seen before. The only other books I have on S.S. France are in French or leave something to be desired, and this book fills in where those leave off. If you are a liner buff, then this book should add nicely to your collection.

Beautiful and big. 1,035 feet long!
Fantastic ocean liner from the old days. I traveled home in 1974 aboard the France. It was her third to last voyage as the flagship of Companie Generale Transatlantiqe (French Line). She was a grand ship in the style of the Great Atlantic Liners of old. Food was fantastic. Enjoy the book.

Maxtone-Graham Triumphs Again!
I have long been an admirer of the extraordinary writing skills of Mr. Graham. His previous books on ocean liners and their histories are flawless. This newest volume is a wonderful addition to any collection of maritime interest and ocean liners in particular. FRANCE/NORWAY is chock full of behind the scenes antidotes covering the construction and history of s.s. FRANCE and her sale and conversion into the stunning cruise ship NORWAY. She certainly had quite a career and Maxtone-Graham delivers her story in prose and with stunning photos. Highly recommended!
