How do i measure for correct size/shape

It's easier if you've got a head torch then you can use both hands for measuring. Measure the distance front to back and side to side. Then choose a Chimney Sheep that's a couple of inches / 5cm bigger on each dimension. There's a sizing chart among the additional product pictures or more info if you need it on the Chimney Sheep website. If you're still not sure give us a call, we're happy to chat about chimneys even if you go back to Amazon to make the purchase :-)

Does it matter if it gets wet? Water comes down our chimney in heavy rain.

I can't see that it matters; chimney sheep is made of wool/mixed fibres which can be dried out easily. However, the device will sag if soaked in water and will, therefore, fall from its position in the chimney flue.
