John Frieda Precision Foam Colour Dark Cool Espresso Brown, 1 Application

I really like how easy this hair color is to apply. The foam formula spreads smoothly and helps make the coloring process simple, even when doing it at home. The color result looks natural and refreshed, and the instructions are easy to follow. It’s a convenient option for maintaining hair color without going to a salon.

I have fine, 2B/2C, low-porosity hair that’s collarbone length (level 7 at the roots, with some leftover dye from a few months back). I used John Frieda Precision Foam Colour in Dark Cool Espresso Brown, and here’s the breakdown: Pros: •The foam texture is a game-changer—super easy to apply, way less messy than the typical creams. •The color is exactly as described. No accidental “oops, it’s basically black now” situation (looking at you, every other dark brown dye). •The conditioner is actually a travel-size tube instead of the sad little aluminum packet most brands give you. Cons: •My color isn’t perfectly even, but that’s on me for being lazy and skipping proper sectioning. Don’t be me; do the sections. Overall: Highly recommend! I only needed one box (with a bit left over), the color is rich and true-to-tone, and I’ll definitely be repurchasing. Bonus points for making my hair feel soft and shiny after. It is easy to use, covers grays ok, and is the only dye, so far that I can find, that replaces the retired schwarzkopf dark brown Ash 4.1

Update 2019: I subscribed for the cool espresso brown years ago and over the last few months noticed the formula starting to fry my hair?!? My hair came out so dry the last two times and it shocked me. Guys, this is not ok. I swore by this product and subscribed and the formula went downhill. Get your act together quality control. unsubscribed. 2016: I will repeatedly buy this brand until it is discontinued. This product smells so nice and isn’t really painful on sensitive scalps. It doesn’t fade red/orange on me which is an amazing find. The only downside is that the foaming effect gives you the illusion that you’ve soaked your hair fully but just know if you have long hair, you need 2 boxes for true full coverage and grey coverage. You need to use more than you think. I learned this the hard way by the 3rd time. This can leave greys out but the color was so ideal that I kept trying different ways to get it to stick to my greys. I finally got it but sometimes it’ll still miss a few.. To the company, don’t you dare change vendors on the color mixing or quality, your cool brown colors are perfect! Leave it be please! Haha. I always wish they would make a non-foaming formula but these are just my high hopes.

This was the easiest hair color to use, and the color was great after, but after the 2nd wash a lot of color was coming out and looked like I never even did it to begin with. There was no damage and I was able to color again with a different brand, also with no damage,its a shame because I really liked the foam.

this is my favorite hair dye of all time. it makes my hair feel sooo good i can even brush the color through while processing because of how silky the foam is. the color is a PERFECT dark smokey ash brown. please never ever stop making this product/shade or i would cry.
