Sugarflair Superior Grade Gum Tragacanth Edible Food Icing 14g

This powder is great for adding stiffness to sugarpaste where regular sugarpaste is just to soft for the modelling needed. The ratio is 225gms of sugarpaste to 1teaspoon(5ml) of powder, make a well in sugarpaste, and add powder dry. Kneed well until all mixed in, it seems to resist being kneaded in for a minute, it doesn't want to absorb and spills on to the work top but just keep kneading and rub paste into spilled powder until its all gone. Wrap in cling film and leave at room temp over night, it won't work instantly. In the morning the ball of paste will feel very hard and stiff, just kneed with hands again which will warm it up and easy to work with. Fantastic stuff, will always keep in my cupboard.

I have not use gum tragacanth for many years but it made excellent sugar paste with a china like finish to the corsage cake top decoration I made for my daughter and her husbands pearl wedding cake which I also made .I intend the sugar flowers as a souvenier which In due course I will frame as a keep sake . This will keep protect the sugar paste corsage from damp and dust as this would destroy my labour of love . I have a small corsage of sugar flowrs which is one of my first attemps made many years ago I have to say they still look good after being placed inside a glass cabinet without any special care other than the occasion light dusting.I am delighted to have retained the art as I am now 78 years young and proud to be able to create gifts like these. Time consuming but a very pleasant way to spend time being creative I reccomend it to any one.

Hi, I bought this to burnish leather edges. Most of the gum trags for leather I’ve seen comes in a paste, this one is powder. Does anyone know what I need to mix the powder with for leather burnishing?

I love sugarflair anyway as the products are always good and this didnt disappoint

I think I need to add a tiny bit more as the icing was a tad crumbly and my flowers didnt set very good.
