Disappointed.
Really disappointed with this product, I resent having to give it even one star.Whilst delivered in a well fitting box and packaged nicely the actual product box was dented, worn and had clearly been opened before. This was disappointing considering the cost of the product.I followed the instructions very carefully as per the user manual. The user manual is very basic and offered no explanation of the various settings available. Scrolling through the menu as per the instructions it is apparent that the “Setting the Date and Time” screen cannot be accessed. Very disappointing.I then started the first record /capture of a VHS tape via our own video player (this works perfectly well when plugged into our TV). On the products small screen I was able to watch and hear the video whilst the product was ‘recording.’ However, during the recording there is a red time counter on the screen. This kept resetting and starts counting from zero again every few minutes. I initially thought this was similar to the ‘Date and Time’ issue and another function on the product that would not work but hoped it would not effect the ‘grabbing’ of the video content.I then connected via USB cable to our computer to upload the created file. At this point the product did nothing. It is unable to gain power via the USB cable when connected to the computer. The USB port used on our computer to do this functions perfectly well with other devices so I can only conclude that it is an issue with the product or the USB cable provided. I has to reconnect the product to the supplied plug for a period of time to allow it to gain more power. Why would the supplied USB cable not provide power to the product ? Disappointed once again.Once I reattached it to our computer via the USB cable. After a long wait the product screen briefly switched on making a soft clicking sound as it did so and then immediately off again. At this point it was recognised by our computer. However, instead of one file there are several. All of these had either “PICT0001.AVI” or “PICT0002.AVI”. My computer will not allow copying of any these file to desktop from the source directory (on the micro SD card included with the product sale). An alert appears on the screen saying that the file is corrupted.I reformatted the SD card and tried that whole process again but exactly the same happened again. I then tried selecting “Play” mode on the device itself to get a direct play of the recorded file on the products own screen. A single image from the video appears on the screen. When I pressed the play button the screen displays “ONE MOMENT” continually and nothing else happens. Then no buttons functions will worked at all. As per the the ‘Trouble shooting’ section in the instructions I pressed the “Reset” hole in the back of the product.I repeated the whole process and exactly the same issues happened again. I find it alarming the two solutions to the questions listed in the ‘troubleshooting guide’ are to reset the whole product by pressing the button on the back.I am so disappointed with this product. I foolishly thought that by purchasing one of most expensive VHS grabbers on Amazon that this would ensure I was buying a reliable high quality product - this was definitely not the case. I suspect I have received a product that another customer has already returned. This product was advertised as the "Best Video to Digital Converter.” If just want a viewer then it does work but it is no use as a converter. I have returned this item as it is simply too unreliable to trust that it will continue to work in the future. Really disappointed.

Simple and reliable TV or video recorder
This is a simple to easy to use device for quick recording from your TV or video record / HD drive. It does not require a computer. It records through a scart or composite connecting cables, so make sure your TV has the suitable connections.. It records in a 4:3 screen ratio and saves to an AVI file format. If you want the recording to be viewed on 16:9 screen ratio, or saved to a different file format, you will have convert it using a computer video editing software. I have been using the device for a for more than a month and it seems reliable, has a good battery life and quick charging time. If you want a quick and simple TV recording device without the hassle of using a computer this does the job. I would give it five stars if it would record to 16:9 screen ratio and offer the choice of saving to an alternative file format.

fantastic product - I am delighted with it
this is fantastic,Over the past 18 months I have spent in excess of £250 on 4 x second hand DVD Recorders. I mainly record boxing events as I'm an avid fan of the sport. I record the odd tv series from time to time too. My main use for this is the boxing though. I'm a sad git who has a massive fight archive from the past to present day (mostly on DVD's).Anyways, the DIGITNOW! device is fantastic, it's very easy to use just plug it in, hit record to start a recording, hit record again to stop recording, and that's about the jist of it. The file transfer is also fairly simple just plug into your PC via the lead provided. it automatically reads as if it is an external usb pen drive) find the AVI files via the folders then copy or move to PC - piece of cake. You can get a converter program for FREE on the net to transfer you're AVI recordings into different filetypes. Overall, it works really well. Only thing that would improve it was if it was able to record to MP4 directly rather than AVI but there are ways around this as stated before.I'm able to record off a multitude of devices, set top boxes, X-Box 360, old VCR's etc... (it works with almost anything that has Composite (RED WHITE YELLOW) Out connections. Works a treat with my Sky+HD.The quality of the picture is limited to SD and it records all files in 4:3 ratio but again you can find converter programs on the net for FREE to make any adjustments. In summary, this does the same job as all of those second hand DVD recorders and doesn't take up as much space. It's portable meaning you can easily switch between devices in different rooms, It comes with a 4GB MicroSD card giving you 4 hours of recording - although like many other people I bought a bigger card and now have 17.5 hours worth of recording which is more than enough for what I need.5 out of 5 - does exactly as it says - there's also help and support should you need it from the seller. They sent me a very nice email checking I am happy with the product. I am delighted with it actually this will last longer than the second hand DVD recorders ever will. I've basically paid £89.99 for a brand new recorder - instead of forking out £45 on a second hand DVD Recorder and then £50 on another DVD recorder two months later followed by something like £35 three months later for another DVD Recorder.I've had lots of DVD Recorders this machine will stop that trend.

Works on a camera but files come out as AVI
Everything you record comes out the other end as AVI files which is useless for most modern software, doesn't seem to play well with any editing software or encoders
