Silverline Tap & Die Expert Set 40pce (186811)

I am not an engineer and have found the sizing very difficult to understand. I have no idea what the letters and numbers on the tap-and-dies mean they don't seem to match each other.

Arrived on time and well packed. This was not the dearest set that I looked at but when it arrived I was very pleasantly surprised at how well made it was. I have used it a few times already and it works well. The only dislike is the thread gauge as it is made of very thin steel and the threads are very difficult to see yet alone use. I would use the company again.

Useful to have as part your toolkit for those occasional jobs when you desperately need to re-thread a damaged boltbut the quality is pretty low - the metal is too soft and after a few uses you can see the taps (the pointy ones which create the 'nut') starting to flatten out.

Have used them a couple of times. Mainly for cleaning up and repairing damaged threads. Have used it for fresh cuts too and it has done the job perfectly. Good selection between automotive fine and standard pitch and pitch guage is a bonus! Perfect for the occasional user. Could not fault it.

Bought this for my son who is an aircraft engineer apprentice and keen car enthusiast. He loves it. For the price and quality of the set it makes for good value and he has already made good use of it.

I'm very happy. Came with all the sizes I needed and paid for itself on its first use. I was surprised at how good these are - probably not what you'd find in a commercial workshop but pretty damn close. Highly recommended.

A good tool for the DIY enthusiast mechanic.

I bought this to fix the thread on my car wheel hub after I sheered a bolt in it. Cheaper than getting a garage to do it. Job done.
