Volkel 804/030S 4mm x 0.7 HSS Tap (Set of 3)

Nothing to dislike.

Tapped about 200 holes in mild steel up to 12mm thick but broke 5 of these taps doing it (unlike the bigger sizes, the 4mm set seems to be 3 identical taps). They all snapped where the shank meets the cutting wings when tapping thicker materiel. Doesn't really matter how careful you are or how often you turn it back to clear it as the torque needed to cut a thread is almost the same as the torque needed to snap it. Have certainly used better ones and feel they're overpriced for the quantity/quality supplied.It's essential to use a 3.3mm drill bit rather than a standard 3mm one. The extra effort needed for a smaller pilot hole is guaranteed to break the tap.

I received these taps on time and have used them several times already. I use these to cut threads in bronze and they are much more efficient than my old set. They are very sharp and easily cut through bronze alloys. Although not numbered unlike some brands, it’s quite easy to see the order in which they should be used.

I love these. Go quality and buy once, if you need m4 this is the product for you. Power tapped acetal, aluminium and mild steel so far, and they're still sharp
