Smells disgusting (See Review text) - Overall, disappointing
Thought I'd try an more upmarket Earl Grey, and having read the reviews, this one seemed like it wa going down well with people, so why not?Well, long and short of it is, I'm rather disappointed. It arrived in a nice round caddy, which implies quality.Inside, sealed in the silver foil bag is the tea itself.Upon opening, I was immediately greeted with the surprising aroma of Railway station urinal.Yes, you read it correctly. The smell can only be described as urinal.Maybe, I thought, it's just that it needs to breath a while. Its been breathing for a couple of weeks now and still it smells of, yes, you guessed it, urinal.Decided to brave it anyway and made a few brews.I drink it black with lemon, like any civilised person does. None of this adulterating it with milk. So, what does it smell amnd taaste like in the cup/mug/flack?Good news is, it doesn't smell like a urinal, (did I mention that before?)It smells Earl Greyish, reasonable aroma of Bergamot.Taste is rather smokey but apart from that, rather bland. Not quite to my taste, I prefer a sweeter EG, but some may prefer this.Maybe I' just got a bag one, but, given the price tag, won't be experimenting with another of these, just to confirm that.Giving it 3 stars overall, but only because of presentation and a lot is dependent on personal taste, so benefit of the doubt here.Drinkable, but frankly, far better alternatives out there for the price.Obviously, not on my recommended list.

Best in taste test
We did some blind testing of this and three other loose leaf earl grey's to find the one we liked best.Out of four, this was our favourite. It is quite perfumed, but in a fairly subtle / delicate way that doesn't overpower the flavour of the tea. It has a refreshing flavour and tastes as if it would go very well with toast and marmalade. If you prefer fewer aromatics then the "rare tea company", or regular twinnings might be more suitable. We found Wittard's overpowerfully aromatic for our taste at the other extreme.Hope that helps you choose the right loose leaf earl grey for you!

A fine cup of tea , worth the money
I am an Earl Grey fanatic. I have tried so many varieties of so called Earl Grey and they have either been lack lustre with no flavour of bergamot, or they have been downright awful! Not so this one, the flavour is delicately perfumed, but lasting and makes for a fine cup of tea. There is only one other company that makes as good a cup, but it is different, and I enjoy that one as well and that is Gillards of Bath, but this is as good or maybe better. Other folk may differ.Suffice to say this produces a top notch cup and refreshes me very well.

Delicious!
I use the Ceylon Earl Grey tea with a Bodum glass and filter. It is quite a strong tea compared to supermarket brands of Earl Grey, so you will need to experiment with how much you need and how long to let it brew for your taste. However, once you have that sorted, it is delicious; a good clean, non-chemical tasting tea that smells wonderful. I always have it with a chunk of fresh lemon, which I think adds to the natural flavour. The packaging is very nice too and the tin helps keep the tea fresh (not that it gets to last long enough for me to worry about that!) Plus you can use the tin afterwards for storing all sorts of things, as well as for more tea.A caveat though: I thought that my second tin had a slightly different taste to the first one but it may have been my imagination. However, as it is a 'proper' natural product the variation may have been due to the actual plant itself. It also seems that at the moment Tea Makers of London are not producing the Ceylon Earl Grey - boo. I am waiting for its return...

Loving it
I do like a weak tea and this fits the bill perfectly. Having said that, I don't leave it brewing for very long at all so if you prefer a stronger tea just leave it to brew for the recommended time and you will have a cuppa to suit your taste,.I love the fact that there is a little inner lid with knob to keep the tea extra fresh, which is thoughtful as the main lid would not be airtight on its own.The bergamot is not quite enough for me but having said that, I haven't found an earl grey yet that has a strong enough bergamot taste for my liking. This is one of the best I have tasted and will definitely be buying again.

What a Delightful Cup Of Chai
I am somewhat obsessive over my snobbiness for a good cup of Earl Grey, trying between 50 to a 100 varieties over the years. I must say, this is one of the finest examples i've tried in a while.I do find though, that I have a new favourite every few months, as I tire easily from having upto a couple of cups of the precious stuff a day as well as rooibos, nettle and green tea. All from different suppliers. My search continues for my future favourites...If you know of any others which I should try, then please do drop me a line.

Awesome Stuff !
Awesome stuff ! I am a dedicated tea drinker and have been so all of my life. Earl Grey has always been my favourite and up until they stopped making it I was a huge fan of Whittards Earl Grey Breakfast Tea with extra Ceylon. However, this Earl Grey is just superb and relegates the Whittards variety to third divison status. This is the Premiership ! I love this blend. Yes, it's rich and powerful and I could easily understand some people finding it too strong or bitter or overly-aromatic. I like strong, robust tea and therefore this is definitely "my cup of tea". My jumbo cup of this blend at breakfast time is one of the highlights of every day. Simply wonderful !

Perfect cup of Tea During Lockdown
I have always enjoyed Earl Grey Tea and just lately become a bit choosy as to which brand to buy. I tasted some loose tea in a bistro before lockdown and bought that and it was lovely but as I can't go back at the moment needed some that would be hopefully just as nice. I have only tried so far the Chiswick Organic Tea but its lovely but unless you like really strong tea you don't need to put in too much which is great. I like mine just fragrant and light and always use a solid metal or glass teapot. For me the whole thing has to be a pleasure my treat, enjoy yours.
