Lonely Planet Kids My Travel Journal Paperback – Coloring Book, 15 April 2016

I bought 2 of these ahead of a family road trip to the USA. My girls are 8 and 6 and the language, ideas, and activities are pitched just right for their reading ages.Each activity is thought provoking but simple, and encourages kids to think and document some of their obvious and not so obvious holiday experiences. The book is set out along the journey, from anticipation, preparation, then experiences whilst away, and finally summarising. Some of my personal highlights are: weather watch charts, flag drawing, quotes and catchphrases, and new experiences.For a small book it covers a lot of ground and I can’t wait for my 2 to get stuck in. I like the laid back but informative feel of lonely planet books, and it really shows through with this.Update... so after recovering from the trip, I was pleased with the journal. I think (as always) I underestimated how much parental motivation would be needed to help remember, divert from fighting, and move away from screens, but after prompting my 6&8 YO girls both enjoyed the variety of content. Most of the time my wife and I had to prompt memories but I liked this. After a few days it became a little of our routine and was a good way to keep them busy whilst we sampled the local giggle juice.Will report back on how it went!

My little girl 8 is always talking about her next holiday, so she’s loved this gift. Not going way for months but she’s pulls her journal out most nights! Fantastic way to get her practicing her writing skills and she’s doesn’t even know she’s doing it!

Bought as a gift so can't comment on the child's view. But as the purchasing grown up i thought it looked great. Easy to use. Storage space for all the important tickets etc.

fab book, loads of activities and things to be filled in. Not used yet as it is a gift but think my niece will love this for long journeys.

Absolutely jam packed with great time filling ideas for your young person. Far more than we expected and great quality

Nice layout. Not too overwhelming with spaces to write. However does not work as a day to day diary. More sporadic good memories etc.

Bought for my adult friend who is a child at heart. She loved it. It would be a great gift for a child going on a short holiday. You can create your own flick book image in it, which was a nice addition.

Brought this for my 8 year old son for our recent holiday. Kept him busy throughout the flight & the holiday.. happy boy!
