A Sunpak made - reasonably priced Fuji TTL flashgun.
This Flash gun is a rebadged Sunpak model. It is a basic TTL gun with a 20m GN/100iso. First. I brought the Sunpak version for my Nikon Df and was pleased with the gun, and then purchased the Fuji version to use with my Fuji S1 and X-S1 cameras. The flash works in TTL mode with both without any problems. The important point is to set up each camera to operate with an external flash gun, via the camera menu. When external flash is set up/ mounted on the camera, you can still use the built in flash on it's own, the external on it's own, or together. When used together it's possible to use the camera flash to trigger the external, or for fill in /bounce the light, and blend power by altering the power of the external flash by 2 stops +/-.The flash uses AA batteries and has a fold down light defuser. The hot shoe folds out of the way into the flash unit allowing the unit to be put in a shirt pocket. There are more powerful and expensive Fuji flash guns available. Although low power, this gun is small, lightweight, can be carried in a shirt or trouser pocket, works TTL with Fuji cameras and is not too expensive. I have used the Nikon version for wedding photos but do remember that light output is fine for a 35mm wide angle lens, and it works ok at iso200 with a 28mm wide angle lens, but expect exposure issues when sued with a 24mm lens. Highly recommended.

Sunpak by another name ...
As stated in earlier reviews this is a re-badged Sunpak RD2000 Canon Flashgun. And that's fine as Sunpak are a decent quality flash. The added benefit from this is that accessories like the Sto-Fen OM-EW Omni Bounce Flash Diffuser will fit.As far as using the Fuji EF-20 is concerned there were no problems at all. The quality improvement over the built in flash is quite significant. I am using it on a Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR Digital Camera (16MP EXR-CMOS Sensor, 30x Manual Optical Zoom) 3 inch Tiltable LCD Screen so I didn't anticipate anything going awry. I have tried it on my S9500 and, apart from having to use it in manual mode, it works just fine. The built in wide-angle diffuser is a neat touch and works well at 24mm. The up/down adjustment on the back of the unit hasn't been used as yet as the HS30EXR/flash combination works so well. On the S9500 it will be of more use I imagine although on my , admittedly brief, test firing it proved to be unnecessary. The fold up feature is very good and does make for a compact little addition to an increasingly crowded gadget bag. The bounce flash movement is a little stiff beyond 45 degrees. As far as niggles are concerned the instruction book leaves a bit to be desired, especially in regard to opening the battery compartment. This is opened by pressing on the ridged section then flipping the cover open with the other hand. In the manual it says 'slide the battery cover release button downward to open the battery compartment'. Well it doesn't slide, it depresses. It's not a huge niggle I know but when you are dealing with delicate and easily broken parts it does make a difference. One star away for that. All in all this is a neat and powerful little flash and well worth the money.

Excellent but... read the instructions!
This is a brilliant flash, compact, light and, most importantly, excellent. TTL flash with the xPro1 is uniformly spot on and, ergonomically, it fits in just fine. However, I WAS on the verge of returning my purchase as I couldn't get it to work. Lots of head scratching, not feeding the cat, ignoring the 'you're quiet tonight, anything wrong?' conversation openers and cussing didn't help so I consulted the xPro 1 manual (I SHOULD have done this first, of course!). To cut a very very long story short, the flash will not fire if you have set the set the camera to silent mode (pg. 54 footnote). As I enjoy the relative silence of the camera, this goes against my better instincts. But, I still believe that I've chosen the best of the Fuji flash units. The EF 42 is too big and aesthetically daft sitting on top of the xPro and the smaller and more expensive metal EF X20 does nothing that the EF20 can do better( It is VERY beautiful though!).In terms of price, the EF20 is smack dab in the middle and is a great little piece of kit.I've just spent a month coming to this decision: I hope this little review helps.

Fujifilm EF-20 Flashgun
I bought this little flashgun to use with my Fujifilm Finepix SL240 bridge camera and it compliments the camera perfectly with a matt black rubberised finish, much like that on the camera itself. Small and compact, but nevertheless giving a big improvement on the flash output available from the camera's own built in flash, the flashgun provides TTL metering via the camera through the dedicated circuitry and features a vertical bounce head to give softer lighting when bounced off a convenient low ceiling.Apparently a re-badged Sunpak, this is a remarkably well designed unit with a foot that folds into the flash body, when not in use, making it even more compact and small enough to fit into a shirt pocket - honestly! The unit is well balanced on the camera and even features a fold out wide-angle diffuser and ev compensation via a dedicated on flash button (simply press and cycle through up to two stops either side of correct exposure). Power is provided by two user provided AA batteries (I use Ni-MH rechargeable). If you have Fujifilm Finepix camera with built in hot shoe, such as the SL series, the Fujifilm EF-20 is a highly recommended little gem of an accessory that will add versatility to your compact Fujifilm Finepix camera.

Bon produit
