Kindle Paperwhite. The best Kindle of them all
It took years and my husband buying me a Kindle for my birthday, to break down my resistance to e-readers. I'm so glad that he did. Even though friends enthused about Kindles, I could never imagine abandoning paper books. How wrong I was, for an avid reader like myself, it's the best thing ever.I have always been a bookworm and used to give most of my read books away to friends and charity shops, as I read that many books, it was impossible to keep and store them all.I have to say that the Kindle Paperwhite has totally transformed my reading experience for the better.Once I have finished a book, I can remove it from the device and it's stored in the cloud to redownload should I ever wish to read it again. The Kindle Paperwhite provides me with a whole library in my handbag that I can access anytime, anywhere. It has a lovely, clear font on an evenly lit, front lit screen. I already have the 2014 Paperwhite which I love. This upgraded version is even better. It's nice and light and can be read using just one hand. The built in lighting enables me to read at night without disturbing anyone, or needing a bedside light on.If you fall asleep whilst reading, it switches itself off after a short period of inactivity.I no longer wake up with a paperback squashed underneath me, with the pages all crumpled. The Kindle also remembers which page you are on, so you never lose where you have read up to again. It's wrapped up under the Christmas tree now, my husband took advantage of the black Friday sale. I chose without special offers as I quite like the Kindle screensavers. This is the best Kindle ever, I just wish that the book cover could be used as a screensaver and that the book cover only could be in colour. This is a fantastic device, dedicated for reading only. I would never go back to reading paper books. No more dust collectors with yellowing pages, less clutter in the house. The kindle is very easy to set up and has an excellent build quality. There is a set up guide included in the box, but the Kindle itself navigates the user through all the features and the set up process. This is my 3rd Kindle, my first one was a Kindle touch. They're all still going strong after all this time. You won't regret buying this.

Give me convenience, or give me death
'No more faff with having to carry books around' - that was my main reason for wanting a Kindle. I have a commute, like a few of us in the world do, so I want convenience. History, tradition, delicious smell of real books be damned. So I grudgingly took the plunge. And I'm very happy I did. That main reason - not wanting to stuff my bag full of unwieldy paper monsters for my to-and-from work commute - immediately proved to be right on the money; the perfect reason to pick up a Kindle. I now have hundreds of books - more than I even have back at home - being carried around on this one, relatively slim, piece of kit that fits easily in my bag.But I was surprised by how much I liked - and still like - the other features of the Kindle. Used to phones and computers, I worried my frequent migraines would flare up from extended staring at a screen, but the Kindles [insert buzzword technology name here] screen is soft to look at and hasn't caused me one single flare-up. The fact it's also backlit is a huge bonus too, meaning I can read in low light without having to drain the national grid. Though maybe reading in low light does contribute to migraines, I don't know. Stop judging me, you're not my mum. It's also light, once I put a case on it it's sturdy and can be thrown about, it's easy to put other non-Amazon-bought files on so you can review PDFs or other such things emailed to your own personal account - I'm currently looking at the Humble sci-fi bundle of books, for example, which comes with a batch of MOBIs I can upload easily enough - yeah, it's a very good bit of tech indeed. Very impressed, in ways I never even expected to be.Nothing will ever beat real books for me, but for what I use this for and the convenience it offers, the Kindle is utterly superb. Doesn't strain the eyes, battery lasts an absurdly long time, it's light as a regular (big) book and sturdy enough to be thrown in my bag (with a case on it, natch) without too much bother. Fantastic.
