Forget the theatrical release, watch the cretaceous cut
I watched this at the cinema and remember the crushing dissapointment when it was clear that imbecile studio execs had interfered with the production and had insisted on voice overs that were Both ludicrous and incredibly irritating. This was NOT a movie version of the excellent BBC series, it was a travesty of a production with no clear idea of what it wanted to be. How the BBC allowed their product and good name to be so horrendously sullied by this mess is anybody's guess. Somebody somewhere should hang their head in shame for all but destroying something really good. The Cretaceous cut is a much more enjoyable experience however and goes some way to remedying the original mess of a release. Gone are the irritating voices and what is left is a 90 minute walk with a herd of dinosaurs heading south for the winter told from the perspective of a single Pachyrhinosaurus called Patch. The 3d and animation is excellent and although there are a few pop songs and some somewhat out of place moments, this is much closer to the sort of movie I think many were expecting. For that reason it is well worth buying the 3d movie since this new cut is also in 2d for those who don't like 3D. This version would be even better if it was about half an hour longer.

Not as bad as most say!
Firstly, as stated above, most people comment how bad/stupid/annoying etc etc this film was, and I honestly have to say, I found it quite an enjoyable little film! Although, I do agree that there is a distinctly childish tone to it, and very much on the cheesy side. However, even though these elements do spoil the main theme of the film, (which is a shame, as it could have, should have, been done a great deal more entertaining, rather than include those unnecessary, cringe-worthy aspects to it), apart from that, as a film in itself, the visuals are, if not stunning, are quite attractive, and pleasing to the eye in many parts-particularly the brief slow-motion shots. And the voices aren't THAT annoying! You hear worse on Pokemon etc.!!!So yeah, it's not necessarily a bad film, it's just let down from its full potential. Could have been much better, but it's alright, if only for its visuals!

Walking With Dinosaurs In A Different Way
I liked this film which I bought together with another item. However it is not exactly the same as the Walking with BBC series as at least some of the dinosaurs are voice acted. So it’s a splice of Walking With Dinosaurs the tv series and the Land Before Time type feel. Highly enjoyable as an adult so I assume kids would love it the way I loved land before time and Walking with series on BBC.Definitely worth a purchase, gave four stars as although I really liked it I couldn’t justify five stars for the film.

Sometimes stunning 3D dinosaurs aren't enough
I held off on watching this one for a long time due to the negative buzz about it. The filmmakers or studio heads or whoever it was had a brainwave one day and said - let's take a classic beloved documentary franchise and turn it into a kids movie, complete with poop jokes and random pop songs. It's a pity, because there are some genuinely good moments scattered throughout. As others have mentioned, the "cretaceous cut" of the movie is the way to go, removing the strange Homeward Bound-style voiceover and present day scenes. It does make for some utterly bizarre moments though, as you're treated to weird cutaways without any dialogue or motivation, but it's better than suffering the "acting" in the theatrical version. Didn't last five minutes into that one.The saving grace (of the 3D version at least) is this film has some seriously impressive visuals at times. The experience sways back forth between fairly bland landscape shots to dramatically lit dinosaur combat sequences, that have impressive sense of scale and realism when viewed in 3D. You can tell there was a bit of research put in as well (probably due to the BBC still having a stake in things), with some rather fluffy raptors running around and species depicted that actually lived at the same time period together. The forest fire and Gorgosaurus attack scenes are some of the main highlights, really showing off the impressive animation and being quite transporting.Of course, to get to those bright spots, you have to sit through some of the strangest, dumbest scenes in any dinosaur media ever produced. Two horned dinosaurs making goo-goo eyes to the sounds of Barry White is when I just lost it and collapsed in laughter at the sheer ridiculousness. The plot is very formulaic, ripping off any animated dinosaur movie you can think of, with a pretty shameless lift from March of the Dinosaurs near the end. It's enjoyable enough at times, but damn is it silly.Children are probably more the target audience here, going by the poop jokes, and they'd probably get quite a kick out of it if they're pretty young. It's a bit like a less adult-friendly version of Disney's Dinosaur from 2000. Those 3D dinosaurs really are quite stunning, but the whole thing feels like a 65 million dollar missed opportunity.
