Factory design for these valve covers do not permit spark plug tube seal replacement, so replacement if the entire cover is the only option. As seen in the photo, tube seals are installed and then a plastic sheet is glued on covering the outer edges of the seal making removal impractical. With time and heat, the tube seals get rock hard and will leak oil/air as well as the valve cover to head gaskets. These engines use a PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve to maintain a negative pressure inside the valve covers/crankcase. Old hard spark plug tube seals can leak air. This air ultimately enters the the intake manifold after the Mass Air Flow sensor and can disrupt fuel mixture and affect smooth idle. In some cases, these leaky seals can actually make noise and sound like the vacuum leak it is. These new valve covers are an excellent cost effective replacement for the factory units and fit perfectly. Of course, difficulty of installation will depend on the individual vehicle.

Covers and gaskets worked awesome. The bolts are cheap materials and when I installed the first time it snapped in half and got stuck. I had to drill it out. Went to Nissan to get the correct bolts. The bolts also were a tad to long and did not fit correctly.This was on my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Perfect fit and about $50 cheaper than buying from the dealer. These plastic valve covers are the exact same on the 4.0 VQ40E that ships from the factory. If your spark plug tube seals start to develop a leak, you need to replace the entire cover as the seal itself is not a serviceable part.
