The main reason for getting this 2 CD collection of Barry White is the original full-length album version of Never Never Gonna Give Ya Up, complete with orgasmic intro - which hasn't made it onto the other Barry White greatest hits collections, and also the excellent long versions of his later hits Its Ecstacy When You Lay Down Next To Me, and Sho' You Right.This is also the most comprehensive collection of his UK and US hits. The music is lush and seductive, and at its best - moving and catchy. The "Barry White sound" was hugely popular in the first part of the 1970s - as well as very romantic, this is lifestyle music. Inevitably it fell out of vogue, in the same way Chic/Sister Sledge fell out of favour after their heyday in the late 70s. Whilst sometimes dismissed as "pap" and "lazy" in its day, there are some undeniably delicious classics here - namely Walking in the Rain (With the One I Love), It May Be Winter Outside (But in my Heart its Spring) with Love Unlimited, Love's Theme, Never Gonna Give Ya Up, Can't Get Enough (Of Your Love Babe), You're The First, The Last, My Everything, Its Ecstacy When You Lay Down Next To Me, Sho' Your Right, and arguably his Billy Joel Cover of Just The Way You Are.

Just put this album on and, straight away, I'm listening to one of the most wonderful soul voices ever to hit any recording studio. If you read anything on Barry White, you'll come across someone who, after a poor start in life, emerged as one who put so much effort into life and his music that it would be a shame to forget or ignore what made the man and his music such a success. The music and production; care in the recording of the instruments and the voices that make up this rich sound selection just has to be heard to be believed.Barry White, Love Unlimited and the Love Unlimited Orchestra are beautifully represented here.There's so much good music that I'd get carried away with describing each song if I could! I would rather humbly suggest you who love/like White's music to buy this excellent twin disc album for yourselves and sample just a few of the delights that are Barry White Gold. All tracks are original studio recordings with some exciting long versions included. Enjoy!

Can't get enough of Barry's love, babe? No, me neither.The inclusion of edits of some of the Walrus' finest moments is rather irksome, but even with that sorry state of affairs, all of CD 1 is brilliant. The oily-bearded lothario's 80s work, found on CD 2, contains some really quite outrageous crimes against music production, and Barry is occasionally forced to go in some ill-advised 'new jack'-type directions ill-befitting a man of his refinement and girth, but there we go: it was the 80s.

Double c.d from Barry White. Plenty of tracks and the sound quality over both discs is excellent. All the hits are here and a couple of rarer tracks. Well worth a listen. Also very fair price from Music Magpie.

Beautiful! An excellent collection of his finest. What stops me from a five star rating is some distortion on the second last track on the first disc. This particular release is more desirable than the equivalent Australian version which contains a great deal more distortion on the same track. As such, acceptable though not perfect.

Gefallen hat mir die Verpackung, die prompte Lieferung und die CD Nr. 2.Problem: Ich bin untröstlich, dass ich auf der Suche innerhalb der Schutzhülle, leider nur auf eben die CD Nr. 2 gestoßen bin und die CD Nr. 1 leider durch Abwesenheit glänzte. Da ich aber nur 2,45€ zahlen musste, bin ich gerne bereit, mich nicht einer Verpackungsorgie, sowie eines Gangs zur Post hingeben zu müssen - war halt Pech. Dies alles rein zur Info!Das galt bis dato; jedoch verzeihen Sie bitte einem alten Mann, der vergas, dass er Bekannte mit Teens als Besuchempfangen und welche scheinbar Musik gehört hatten(bekam ich nicht mit). Meine Überraschung, 4 Tage später, als ich in einer alten Anlage(die ich normal kaum mehr nutze), die Barry White CD Nr. 1 erblickte, können Sie sich bestimmt gut vorstellen. Deshalb: Nehmen Sie bitte meine aufrichtige Entschuldigung an. Die CD Nr. 1 ist in guter Qualität auch vorhanden und deshalb gibt es von mir volle Stern - Zahl - Bravo! Ein großer Dank für den Zulieferer!

Premetto che sono un appassionato di Barry White sin dal 1973 e, sin da allora ho collezzionato i suoi lp. Probabilmente il mio giudizio sarà coartato dalla storica passione ma, come rimanere insensibili a brani che sono rimasti ai primi posti delle classifiche per tante settimane (vedi hit parade di Lellio Luttazzi). Passine a parte, nell'ascolto del cd ho rilevato, per quasi tutti i brani un'ottima rimasterizzazione. L'ascolto è particolarmente piacevole vista la leggera enfatizzazione delle frequenze in banda sia bassa che alta. Ottimale il ripristino della dinamicità tenuto conto dei master delle registrazioni disponibili. In definitiva una collezione dei nostalgici della musica soul degli anni 80' di cui Barry White è uno dei massimi esponenti; una raccolta consigliatissima da preferire per qualità di fattura tecnica e musicale a tutte le altre pubblicate successivamente ed antecedentemente. Consentitemi in ultimo una nota di merito al venditore (MARVELIO) relativamente alla spedizione che oserei definire lampo atteso che il cd mi è arrivato dagli U.S.A..

Raccolta classica ed omnicomprensiva di brani di Barry White. Le incisioni, benchè sapientemente rimaneggiate, risentono, comunque, delle tecniche di registrazione dell'epoca quindi è esclusa la pretesa di ascoltare un'audio digitale. Viceversa la carica emozionale che l'ascolto dei brani riesce a dare, che comunque risente dei gusti personali, è INCOMMENSURABILE

E' una raccolta di brani ripetitivi. Un artista che - pace all'anima sua - ha dato solo brontolii indistinti e ripetitivi. Ho estratto 4 o 5 brani più rappresentativi e l'ho buttato nell'indifferenziato.

Die Zusammenstellung der Stücke dieses Best Of ist sehr gut gelungen. Vor allem durch die gute Klangqualität hebt sich diese Zusammenstellung von anderen ab.Die Dynamik ist gut und die Stimmen kommen sehr natürlich rüber. Es klingt tatsächlich so als ob Barry einem ins Ohr singt - oder brunft :)

Guter Sampler, gute Songauswahl, guter Preis...rundherum gute Wahl für ne DoppelCD. Einziger Wehrmutstropfen, bei meinem Lieblingslied "Nr. 7- You're the First, the last.." fehlt der Anfang wie man ihn vom Album kennt, ist wohl eher die Radioversion, aber hey es gibt schlimmeres. Sehr empfehlenswert
