Literally 1000s of dead flies and still going strong....BRILLIANT!
WOW! This was one of those purchases where I wasn't convinced it would work but was desperate enough to give it a try and I'm not disappointed! Follow the instructions which are very straightforward - just unscrew and pop out the lid, fill with the specified amount of tap water, hang it up and watch with delight as all the flies trap themselves and sink to slow and hopefully agonising death. Very satisfying. Note: Give it a chance to work. You need to hang it near to but not too close to the source of the problem. For me, I find that in warm weather the flies like my kitchen and my rubbish bin outside the house which ends up with maggots. I hang this about 3 meters from the back kitchen door and that is also probably a similar distance to the wheelie bin. It says put in a bright sunny spot which I did. First few days seemed to be pointless but then once the putrid liquid started to give off its aroma, the flies have been coming thick and fast (away from my kitchen and bin) and into the trap. It's been hanging a few weeks now and seems to perform better with each passing day and (alarmingly?) is already about an inch deep of dead flies! BE WARNED....this smells like something that has died and is decomposing. When the wind catches it the stink is quite repulsive so you'll want this far away from areas you use a lot. Well worth buying if, like me, you loathe anything that pukes on your food after having a walk on some dog poo before sucking it back up through a straw.....

7 months & still catching flies
I put this trap on the fence last August bank holiday after trying lots of different traps etc. It’s about 6feet from the ground & about the same from the utility door. we get quite a few flies from the dog kennels next door on the other side of the fence & they’re always in the kitchen & utility in the warm weather. I put about 3 inches of water in it, gave it a bit of a shake & left it to do its thing. I didn’t notice any flies for the first few days & the smell didn’t seem very strong however after about a week it started attracting flies & has gone from strength to strength since & is still catching a lot in March!! I’ve had to top the water up regularly in hot weather but I just add about an inch each time. It’s still working really well, especially during this warm spell ( it’s on a west facing fence & once the sun hits it the flies head straight for it) As you can see from the photos it’s getting a bit full so I’ve just order a couple more for myself & family members who’ve been impressed with it. I hope they last as long as this one because the info says they last about 4 weeks. I’d deffo recommend these if you’re troubled with flies, it does seem to work better once the sun warms it up a bit so bear that in mind when you put it up.

Works
Put under the patio which is a magnet for flies in the summer. Only used one of them as you can top the mix up as it evaporates. Certainly catches flies. Only gripe is, I could never have it free standing as the flies escape. Has to be hung to work

Didn't work!
I ordered this item to try and attract flies away from my conifers. Needles to say despite following the instructions it has failed to deliver, and I still have swarms of flies in my trees. This may work in certain applications, but sadly it hasn't worked in my case... The product overall is easy to use and has clear instructions. You just add water. It would have been nice to have a sturdier hangar on the product, but you just get a very thin cable tie like plastic hangar. For the money, I can see the appeal, but for me sadly, it didn't have the results I had hoped for.

Excellent (OUTDOOR) fly trap - lasts up to 1 month!
These are absolutely great PROVIDED you need a fly trap for outside use. We use ours near a chicken coop, and one near our bin store. If you have a few flies coming into your house occasionally, a conservatory which is a fly haven, or pet food that attracts maggots, DO NOT even consider this! It works by attracting flies to the smell of the decomposing bait sachet, which drown and in turn rot, adding to the attractive power. It needs the warmth of the sun and gentle breeze to work at full efficiency. The smell is initially mild (and barely noticeable), but it absolutely reeks after a few weeks. You just open and add water. If the weather is very hot, it may need topping up with water. By the time the trap is full (for us, about 4 weeks/a month), you just clip the lid down, double bag it, and throw it away. There are models that are reusable/refillable but I like the convenience of these. I know it is not very green, but I don't want to deal with a bottle of putrid, dead flies!
